The Food Safety Authority tested 27 supermarket burgers and ten of them contained horse meat.

What's going on?

i only buy meat from my local independent butcher and his brother is a farmer. they only sell beef from their own farm which they kill themselves (and dont own any horses). i feel happy for making the effort to buy some thing proper. i feel sorry for the rest of ye!

Similarly only  frequent local butcher for meat; as heard a rumour about this kind of thing last year

I hope that the beef processor, who represents ALL that is evil about our country for the past thirty years, is brought to account. Political patronage brought him to where he is and after being saved by Albert way back when Saddam delived the kick in the balls it would be ironic if he finally ate his own children and ruined Ireland's reputation as "the food island".

Long odds-on he will be invisible, as ever.

Seldom eat burgers but tried ordering some with my tesco delivery 2 weeks ago. Tried ordering 4 frozen 100% Quality Irish hamburgers (exact wording on details). When the shopping came the only substitution was these burgers for some tesco burgers that were much cheaper. I sent them back with the delivery man as i was always told these were full of pigeon meet and gawd knows what else. I was a shop for 3 weeks worth of food in which i was left short of meet for a couple of them days near end of cycle .. i was so hungry i could of ate a horse to be fair.

Nothing wrong with horse meat , except that most of us Irish would feel like it was eating your pet .

I only buy meat from my local butcher  , been preaching that for years .

Saw burger in M & S last week , £3.50 for two .  Reckon thats dearer than the chump ( narrow end ) that I love to barbecue . Most butchers dont put it on the counter  from what I hear , guess it stays in house .

Newco-Joe, stay away from those burgers, they will addle your mind.  You know what they say about garbage in, garbage out.

Just seen a Tesco Van going up the High Street, closely followed by Grittar Lorry ..... (the one with the horse in) !!!
