Dunroe Boy placed fourth ?

Interfered with the horse on his outside after the last , that one deserved to be placed second following a stewards .

But the other original 3rd placed dead heater had a clear run , finished behind Dunroe Boy  originally .

I always thought that the principle was that your ultimate placement in a race depended on your own performance ( including any horses you affected in the run ) rather than a skewed version produced by steward indulging in dubious logic .

May be a rule somewhere covering this , anyone familiar with the rules involved in the placing alteration ?

There was nothing else the Stewards could do,the inquiry was called for possible interference between the second Dunroe Boy and Presswell Lad once they agreed interference had taken place and that it had affected the placings they had to place Dunroe Boy behind the horse he interfered with. The unusual circumstances in this case was because of the dead heat Spiker The Biker got promoted when he hardly deserved to,just an anomaly.

Then its the rules which are up the left , wildman . Surely any student of natural justice would see that , but it does not surprise me .

The stewards rules should incorporate a proviso that adhering to the "behind" rule does not invalidate  relative original placements where no other horse in the race is affected .  Maybe thats too deep for those who write the rules  , or maybe they have not got all the words off .

Spiker the Biker did not deserve more than 4th place as the race panned out  , and Dunroe would probably have won if he had kept a straight line .

Trouble is , when things like this happen , it puts people off  , and these days racing ( and other situations ) need to be customer friendly in the face of dwindling interest and fiscal cliffs .
