SEAMUS FARRELL 08/01/2013 The greyhound world lost one of its greatest supporters and gentlemen this morning with the passing of Seamus Farrell.
“Seamo”, as he was known to every greyhound follower, was the doyen of the Dublin betting rings and was occupying his rails pitch until very recently. He will be sadly missed and it is fair to say that the “ring” will never be the same again.
Very few regular racegoers will remember greyhound racing in Dublin without Seamus calling the odds. He will be very sadly missed and to sons Seamus Jnr and Paul, daughter Savina and the entire Farrell family we extend the sincerest sympathies of the greyhound world. We have lost a great gentleman and great friend.
Removal on Thursday morning from his home in Castleknock to Our Lady Mother of the ~Church, Castleknock for 11am Mass, followed by Private Cremation. No flowers please. Donations, if desired, to St Francis Hospice, Raheny. House private.
May He Rest in Peace
I'm sure many on here will have had bets with him in the past
A great layer was Seamo. He always took my bets on credit and we fixed up at the end of the day. I had heard he hadn't been well. He hadn't been on the race tracks for some time. The Curragh and Leopardstown were the last tracks I think he attended.(2011) Doubling up with the dogs was not easy and with so many twilight meetings I think the dogs took preference towards the end.
RIP

He had a bit of Gravitas about him I remember him mainly at the Curragh don't think he worked the southern meetings, seemed to me more a dog bookmaker than a horse one.
