Snap, if in future your tip is an each way selection kindly indicate this in advance.

17th straight losers means that on the law of probabilities you are about to hit the Mother of all winning streaks,  You know it.  Magic MD knows it.

So Man Up and throw up  handful of NAPS for tomorrow please.

You could throw a few up yourself Ozy.

I couldn't win on the horses Pa even when I had a (relatively) decent supply of information.

Tryng to pick them purely on form and coming out ahead is way beyond my capabilities I'm afraid. I enjoy trying now and again but sharing my selections with others would help nobody I am afraid.

I can keep my head above water, usually, on football, tennis or rugby.

Kavvie is quite obviously following him blindly.

Thats fair enough Ozy its certainly not easy and you,re better off sticking to what sports you know a bit about.
SCP i might be wrong here but seem to be under the impression a fair proportion of the selections on here are running after after a lay off?

galway man you seem to assume a lot.are you vertically challenged by any chance?i backed the first 4 winners he gave(based on last yrs good tipping from md)i then missed a few.i backed a few losers.any that were ew prices i done ew.i then took a pull.i backed last 2 ew to neutral results.so over all id say im still slightly up but not a lot.why do you think im backing them blindly?is it beacause i support anyone who has the balls to come on here and tip a few?with the result when he hits a few losers he faces getting slagged?i know md gets good info and id say when he hits winner the floodgates could open.

Very few regular punters will back horses at less than 5/1 each-way, except in exceptional circumstances

I don't mean it in a bad way but pretty sure.

if i know a horse is well fancied at say 7/2 or 3/1 id always back it ew..ton ew at 7/2 finishes 3rd you lose 12.50at 1/4 odds.makes sense to me.if its really fancied it usually places.

db 1974.. a few pro punters make a good living backing 7/4 5/2 shots each way....

Surely with the each-way betting you have to take a long-term view as opposed to trying to save your stake on every race. IMO you shouldn't be backing horses that short each-way regularly. The only circumstances I could justify backing them each-way are

1. If there is an odds-on favourite in the race and there are 5 or 8-10 runners in the race
2. If you really fancy something and are having a good cut at something and don't want to wipe out your bank.

After that I believe that it is as hard (if not harder) to make money on the place side of things as the win side so you're better off backing win only

Suppose you back 5 horses and they are all 5/1

1 wins and 4 lose so you have made a profit on the win part of the bet irrespective of how the losers actually run (ie it doesn't matter if they are beaten a head or a distance)

If you are backing each-way you need at least 2 of the other 4 horses to place in order to not lose money on the place part of the bet, and that's at 1/4 the odds

I know the counter argument is that if there are no winners from the 5 then you have saved money but again, IMO in the long term most competent punters will eventually be profitable on the win-part of backing the 5/1 shots

I'm not against each-way betting by any stretch but in the long run I believe that punters are better off saving it for the longer-priced runners (16/1+). I have to admit it has taken me years to come to this conclusion and I often regret not backing each-way (eg Aiken at 10/1 last Saturday) but I just have to keep reminding myself that it'll all come good in the end (I hope)!

Each to their own though and if it works for you then don't let me stop you

Look on the bright side, Snap.  If Magic MD can pull just one 20/1 winner out of the bag then you are back to break even.

I am afraid that is his normal self, there is some irony in him attacking Kavvie as he was championing his cause earlier.
Soldieroffortune and Irish Guy were the alleged old great contributors who were needed to restore this forum to its former glory,an excellent start.

in fairness, whats the point. nobody (except kavvie) is backing them or will ever back them from now on, its a grade A second hand  guessers thread. several naps the one day was the total p iss take.

you'd be far better off sticking with a lucky (or any) number in  virtual races over a period of time.
