silly talk, always going to have a few bad runs in a row at somestage given the amount of runners he has , still  3 winners and a fair few more placed in the past 2 weeks

lapsy pa , dani won on heavy ground at tramore ,willie said on tng just before the race that letherbelucky would go in the ground ...did she ?....the run of themoonandsixpence was to bad to be true ..jumped well but after the first was almost tailed off ..now willie did say he wasn't sure about the ground for it ...but tailed off after a couple of furlongs....i ask you...ko2 a few bad runs in a row i can allow for ..these were more than just bad runs mate.....

You are asking a fair question WR and i agree in essence there are some shockers agree all should have run a lot better, point i was making was its unusual ground(heavy, drying out making it sticky).Might well be what you are alluding to as well.

just one of those things imo..he has a lot of runners so 2-3 winners and this week will be forgotten..i have to admit i was amazed how bad leatherbelucky ran..although it was a decent race..but i still thought she.d run better than that..

of course he did ..a brilliant race , loads of money for it to ...what about the other ones this week ..that hardly made it out onto the 2nd circuit....?

Isn't it a bit ironic that these bigger stables are as bad as any out there, but as you know workrider there's always an excuse nothing is ever deliberate?.

thats the point , they sweep runs like those under the table without even a blink of the eye...it cant be good for the image of irish racing when the leading taine has at least 3 horses beaten with a mile to run and others pulled up...yet when the money comes for one it wins half the track....i rest my case ..before anyone says the horses didn't go on the ground ..they should ask themselves these two questions ..why did the trainer run them if he was unsure about the ground , and secondly how come they were beaten so far out ...

Believe me workrider they'll all be running perfectly ok on similar type ground all through the winter, when it suits them of course.

primroseandblue was giving away weight, bit old for novice hurdling, may have hated the ground and ridden by a bumper jockey against top lads. i wouldn't have backed him wonks.... simple.

shaker , beaten lto  over hurdles  said not to like jumping fences , ok a 4 runner race so would have a chance ...are you telling me paddy is only a bumper jockey ..Laugh...pity you never joined the tipping comp ...i'm sure you would have had it won after a week ....Cool

prefer to concentrate on the weather wonky. a lot easier to clean up on. i leave "tipping" competitions to the likes of you. too much luck needed.

A general 5/4f this morning pulled up after tailing off, no doubt there will be a perfectly reasonable and truthful explanation for such an appalling run? well the apologists always dig really deep to find one, or like the O'Brien runners Willie the untouchable doesn't have to explain these dreadful runs of his charges, but anybody with at least half a brain cell would know that the horse was sent to the racecourse with no intention of ever doing itself justice.

I agree Kavvie.......Silvergreaser will have to find another National Hunt stable to haunt once Willie starts firing in the winners.

The ground at Listowel has been sticky all week(not soft).often horses just can't go on this as Wp.Mullins explained on Rte radio 1 today.Conspiracy theorists barking up the wrong tree here
By:
workrider
When: 22 Sep 12 21:15
dj876 , not a conspiracy theorist , just looking for an explanation , horses not going on the ground is one thing ..normally that implies they were involved at some stage of the race ...these were high class horses that never raised a gallop ..a big difference ....for punters to ask for a reason for those poor runs is not unheard of...these same trainers are quick to take the praise when they win races ..so why not explain when they fall so short ....i seem to remember a certain horse of willies been tailed off at leopardstown at xmas and willie telling all and sundry that it didn't go on the ground ...yet it comes out at the punchestown festival and nearly wins on the same ground...i wonder how that happened...

Cant have the ground as an excuse for Tarla....has won on very soft ground & also bolted up on "Holding" ground....there must be another reason.

Wr.I presume ur on about Blackstairmountain(beaten 3 times at 1.01)-They're not machines.Wp Mullins went through last season with a near 30 % strike rate-Imo u can generally back a Mullins fav with the strongest form with a degree of confidence in contrast to some of his Nh colleagues where ud want even money that they are off, never mind to win a race.

Lads were moaning last season that he had a monopoly........you can't please everyone.
By:

Willie finished up the meeting maintaining that strikerate(dj,s 30%) with 6 winners from 19 runners under both codes(sp,s 1/10,4/9,4/5,7/4,5/4 and 8/15) including 2 from 2 for Wylie.
However almost half his runners(8 from 19)ran from poor to abysmal, all in my opinion were entitled to be a lot closer and most had previous soft/heavy ground form. Tarla,Primroseandblue,Fatcatinthehat,Letterherbelucky,Dani Cantilona, Themoonandsixpence,Sweetmylord and Bundle of fun.(sp,s between 6/4 and 10/1)
While i initially blamed the ground at the start of the thread i,m not so sure now,"the degree of confidence" with Mullins has evaporated as simply too many ran so bad.No doubt normal service will return,a swerve for me at the moment.

heading to gowran lapsy pa , so might change my mind and give him another chance ,i think hes a fantastic trainer ...i also think he should be more open with punters....it  seems  to me that those who are in the know are massive punters ...dj876 , glad to see you brought up that old chesnut , a trainers fav weapon ..the're not machines ..its dug them out of many a hole.....

saw some of those interviews gant , the all inclusive , they didn't go on the ground , well theres more than meets the eye imo..lots of them had run on ground similar to what they encountered at listowel , the difference been they were able to handle it well enough....i'd love to hear what people on here would be saying if it was barneys stable they were running out of....Laugh

Well does Willie think the ground through the winter months is going to be good?, the fact is the ground during the winter for the most part will be exactly the same if not a lot worse, and many of these horses who disappointed will be winning hard held when they're much fitter and capable of doing themselves justice on the exact same ground, and the apoligists will say they're not machines, and the punters who backed these well fancied horses (on form) can go jump in the ocean as your money is welcome but worthless at the same time.

Of course horses can't talk if they could not a trainer on earth would be save from a prison cell, but that doean't excuse the lack of action from the authorities, no point relying on the media to highlight these issues, they've long been subdued by the bullies, say the wrong thing and you'll out in the cold in double quick time.

Below is a rule they have in Hong Kong designed of course to counteract the activities of trainers like Martin, Curley and Byrnes et al, of course we can throw in a few untouchables like Willie and Jesus Christ himself aka Aidan, no fear of the inbred authorities ever introducing a rule like that in this country as it might give them the power to act against a friend or a friend of a friend or inlaw etc;

(25) To order that future entries or declarations be not accepted for any horse
the performances of which in their opinion have been unduly
inconsistent.
(26) To penalise any person who, in their opinion, has been responsible for or
has been a party to the unduly inconsistent running of any horse

just back , left before the 2nd last race , backed norther bay @ 6/1 w/o 2...backed blazing tempo @ 11/4....a real negative for me was the attitude of one francis hyland , i had a loose 70e and decided to back halfords in the maiden ..i tried to back it with this guy who politely refused at first , saying he didn't want the bet..then he said he'd take 60e ...bookie my arse...its no wonder people bet on here.....a good day over all , a very small crowd attended....
