the guy who runs supreme horse racing has just tweeted that brad jones (won the bumper tonight) could be a cheltenham horse?..now the horse won well and looked good..but ..in a summer bumper..which was very weak..my point is ..i understand you want to sell the horse and club..(which have done excellent) but imo that statment is stupid and over the top ..opinions?

Ridiculous statement is correct. One festival bumper did win his maiden hurdle at Tramore-Liberman.

The syndicate seems to be having some success but the fees they are charging are extortionate, the accumulative fees equate to €2200 per month.
Report bobbybocala August 18, 2012 9:39 PM BST
BI's syndicate is only 2600 a month......but then again it's for a mare with......Colm Murphy .....great value.....the winning ways it's called.....
Report Allduckornodinner August 18, 2012 9:59 PM BST
The monthly fee's don't look too bad considering it costs two grand a month plus extra's (schooling races etc.) to have one with the champion trainer. It's the initial fee's that surprise me given that in many of the cases the horses are leased off Willie or Kenneth Parkhill and I assume the club members don't truly own the horses. Still though if you can afford the fee's it's as sure an opportunity as you could hope for to guarantee a few days in the winners enclosure.
Report DannyMurphy August 18, 2012 11:03 PM BST
The horse was actually called Great Jones...Also their are no shares left in the horse so they are not simply just trying to sell it and although Cheltenham is months away, they obviously feel the horse has plenty of ability. You could see that tonight on ground they didnt think he would like.Could be twice the horse on good ground!
Report wildmanfromborneo August 18, 2012 11:39 PM BST
Bred to be a sprinter,by Johannesburg a brilliant two year old and winner of the breeders cup juvenile, didn`t train on,trained by Aiden O`Brien, his dam Attasliyah was by Marju and when previously covered by Johannesburg produced Rabatash who barely stayed six furlongs.
An extraordinary place to give Great Jones his debut and on heavy ground but then Willie Mullins is a genius,he also is either an investor or director of Tramore which might explain things.
You don`t normally expect good horses to run in Tramore bumpers but this fellow is good he put some distance between himself and the others from the final bend.
Are they leasing him?

the horse is leased..most of these are leased off ken parkhill..but my point is that is a silly statement imo..ive no doubt the horse is decent ..but good enough to run at the festival?..i may be wrong..but i doubt it..also they do have 3-4 decent horses ..zuzka won 3 from 5 races although her form has tailed off..they are all about getting mares to win so as to sell them on..the others they have will be kept i suppose..but pique sous is the best off them ..but they have one they really like ..tango..something..i think it had a setback and is on the easy list but they have high hopes for the horse...credit were its due great run there having..but silly thing to say this time of year?
Report snap crackle and pop August 19, 2012 5:35 PM BST
Didn't think it was that much of a foolish statement. The horse could be anything. You can only beat what is put in front of you and to my eye at least it couldnt have been an easier win. Could easily be a Cheltenham horse imo
Report Allduckornodinner August 19, 2012 6:23 PM BST
Yeah all the mares are leased from Ken Parkhill and I'm fairly sure Willie owns many of the geldings running for the club. As far as I can remember that horse that won last night was close to running in his own colours last autumn.

Every horse they've ran has won at least once bar the filly that got beat in roscommon recently on debut and she'll be fine too. They boast nearly a 50% strike rate from about 30 runners in total so not a bad start for the club with Pique Sous likely to be contesting good novice hurdles.
Report ChildOfMine2 August 20, 2012 12:40 AM BST
Tony, what are they supposed to do? They say that they think the horse could be fairly decent, maybe one for Cheltenham, and you criticize them. Owners and trainers get slated for not telling the public this and that and you just come on here to slate them for being up front with what they think. You come on here tipping up every horse the syndicate has running, giving out inside info that you're obviously getting from somebody in the syndicate, and then you've the nerve to come here on slag them off. No wonder you were kicked out of the syndicate.
And Bobby, you should be kicked off the forum cos you're a complete reject and know nothing about racing!

To, most of the time when that dyndicate has a horse running, you've started up a new thead here to say that it has working well or that they think a lot of this horse. So im just stating facts! And you've already said in another post that you have had some involvement with the syndicate so you obviously still have some s sort of link. And by doing this, you're ruining their chances of getting any decent chance of getting a half decent price. And by the way, Brad Jones was a goalkeeper who used to play for Liverpool :)

I have alluded to this horses breeding earlier in the post, this makes me think he will not be a natural jumper, the fact he didn`t run earlier in his career would suggest he has had some problems although he was impressive in that bumper.

Interesting to see this attack on a poster that has simply expressed a view and surprise at over the top comments, or what he believes are over the top comments from connections.

Joe Cullen did something similar but he is right that the horse has proved nothing yet other than he has more than average ability as he won a garbage race easily. He could be decent but time will tell.

I am surprised that Wildman has not established any connection between COM and DM at this stage, so I decided that with only 37 posts from DM a little sleuthing over a coffee would not take very long. I had a quick look and they are likely to be in some of the horses and more specifically in this horse. DM has only posted on this thread, the tipping competition and a thread about the ride of Zuzka at Galway over the past month, from what I can see. The incorrect naming of the horse has annoyed both of them.

They are also friends outside of the forum and there is a small possibility that they are in fact the same person, although that is doubtful and they are probably just using the same device to bet on occasion rather than being the same person with 2 accounts?

Yeah we're mates and good ones but does that mean we cant agree on the same thing? The fact of the matter is that Tony comes on here telling everybody info about the syndicate's horses, obviosly from somebody else, and then starts up a new thread to slag them off for telling everybody that they might have a good one - which is the exact same thing that Tony has been doing on here for months. I've no problem with you Tony but fair is fair and im just calling it as I see it.
Report Bassanio August 21, 2012 12:40 PM BST
Maybe he was over the top, but many threads have been started in the past doubting the credentials of a horse for a big race after winning an egg and spoon contest.

There is obviously a bit of a niggle between you and Tony and it might well be that as a owner in these syndicates that you are over sensitive about remarks made about the horses.

The organiser is not going to be too bothered as it is more publicity and not many Tramore winners get a thread devoted to them.

Bobby's point on some of the horses may be valid to some extent. Some are very small mares who may not progress over obstacles although we have seen mares like Feathard Lady completely disprove that theory.

How did ye get him?
How long have you got him?
Could you describe him for me?
His pedigree is fascinating and would suggest to me a flat career rather than a jumping one,he amazingly stayed the two miles well but this fellow has to have speed as well, rather than go down the hurdle route would ye not consider trying him on the flat,ye have nothing to lose ye can always switch back.
These comments are meant to be constructive and are in no way a jeer.

Willie likes to start a lot of his horses in low key bumpers and the horse was ready to run last week..
Bobby with a trainer like Willie Mullins the owners dont need to have much of a say!..Im pretty sure ive got much more of a chance of having a Cheltenham runner than you do!
