Should they be done away with and just have  Champions league style group stage phrase. Both Connacht and Munster finals have been very poor stuff and while crowds are still ok they are heading downwards even in the Hurling final today it was not full. Is there a real need for these finals? What does cup mean to Mayo today? Have a Champs league qualifier tourney top 2 go through from each 4 team group, meaning each team will have had 6 games so the players will get games and be rewarded for their efforts during the year. Then straight knock out after either 8 or 16 teams, run the season for a wee bit longer if needs be.

I agree partly on some of this years finals, the neutral wants Cork v Kerry in Munster and other permutations don't have the same appeal. I'm not exactly enthralled about Ulster finals when 7-8 years ago we were getting 70,000+ crowds for Ulster finals in Croke Park.

But I would say that teams like Sligo and Roscommon don't have realistic aspirations of winning All Irelands. A Connaught final is a big deal for these sides. Compare Sligo's performances in Connaught to their performances in the qualifiers and you can see how seriously they take the Connaught championship.

Dublin v Meath should be a cracker of a Leinster final next week as well.

I would like to see the League run on a Provincial basis every year. 2 divisions in Leinster and Ulster and one division in Connacht and Munster. All these games would be competitive as you would be playing neighbours in every match.

All-Ireland then run on open-draw basis or even Champions League basis.

The Tip captain's speech was exceptionally poor today, maybe Wildmanfromborneo wrote it for him?! They should do away with it for sure though.

i have to agree with rocket here...the provincial championships have gone stale and are ridicolously biased towards connaught and especially munster teams, take for example a team in the preliminary round could play 4 games to come out of ulster while mayo played leitrim and then sligo today and even if they were beat they would still be in the last 12...Another point would be if you put kerry into leinster or ulster would they be winning all irelands as frequently....i think not....maybe an fa cup style open draw could be the answer with a champions league style revamp for the national leagues....

The Provincial finals are valid. Except for the Munster one. No watches or cares about that drivel.
