why is this on the irish forum please?

Seem reason why I'm going to start a thread about Keith Andrews, an Irish sports person doing well in Britain Happy
Report Vubiant June 29, 2012 4:02 PM BST
Because
1- He's an Irish sportsman performing well internationally
2- Cricket has been played in Ireland for many centuries -and would be even more widespread were it not for typical narrow minded nationalist bigots in the late C19 ( Michael Cusack played cricket and wished it to continue to be played but was overruled )
3- Ireland is getting better at cricket and interest levels are rising

an irish born player who deserterted his team to go and play for england imo....its like robbie keane saying hes goin to play soccer for the usa or rory best saying hes goin to play rugby for england, maybe its different for cricketers...i dont know..is it pc for a player to switch countrys like that....

Yeah play with Ireland and get to play international games against the top teams once ever four years

The rules allow players to switch countries subject to certain controls. It has happened as long ago as
Basil D-Oliveira , a S African who played for England in the 1960s.
It happens a little more now I think because we live in a more international globalised society.

It's worth noting too how many players of Irish descent have played at the highest level for Australia  from Norman O'Neill down to Glenn McGrath , Craig McDermott etc.

Irish kids have good hand/eye co-ordination and but for hurling luring so many of them away -they would excel at cricket and hockey. In fact they perform fairly creditably considering the small pool of available talent.

vubiant i dont know a big pile about cricket tbh.my point would be what sort of precedent is this setting is the irish cricket team basically an academy for england, will all the up and coming talent be poached to play cricket for england...

Any player worth his salt aspires to Test Match Cricket, but unfortunately Ireland cannot offer him that carrot.

England always have 5 or 6 on the team born in other countries the latest lot over the past couple of seasons. All south Africans, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior, Ian Trott, Craig Kieswetter who batted today with Morgan.

Richters, it appears you don't know a big pile about anything tbh.  Everything comes back to sectarian hatred and envy with you.

Well done Eoin Morgan.

Report Vubiant July 1, 2012 11:49 PM BST
I dunno -I could see him as a nifty half forward ...rifling over points like six-hits with his trusty left hand.Happy
Meantime he's socking it to the Aussies -who are the world's top rated one day team at the mo ---but for how long ?
