Meath will get it hard to compete with Kildare.....Kildare will out run and handpass Meath to death.

ta,probally ,meath 7-2 ,cant have that.having said that i think meath will be up for this and can make it difficult for kildare, long quick ball into the full foward line is their best policy

Long quick ball is the only way and Meath have forwards to do damage.......The Meath defence is very weak......Kildare by 4/5 points for me.

Probably right lads about Meath. It will be interesting to see how they fair, the players need to up their game considerably if they have any ambitions of beating this Kildare team. On their day they are as good as Kildare. Yes, certainly anything they have shown this year wont be good enough. I agree about the long quick ball inside, our target man is Joe Sheridan, he has not performed this year at all so if we are going to switch to this we will need him at his best. We've no solid midfield partnership, Banty has been chopping and changing in that area all year I suggest start Byrne. OConnor/Reilly will be a dual to look out for. My prediction is that it will be nip and tuck entering the final quarter but Kildare with their superb and far superior fitness levels will pull away, from a Meath perspective hopefully that will not be the case! but a solid performance from them wont be anything to be shamed about.

Going to look into the qualifier games to see is there anything worth getting on to. One I have my eye on is Cavan to beat Fermanagh, the Erne men do have home venue, you would imagine that's a big advantage but I was told Cavan defeat Westmeath by eleven points in a recent challenge. Westmeath were only without 2/3 players.

O'Connor/Kevin Reilly will be some tussle but I feel Reilly will lack back up from the players around him.

Ye that was the outcome last year in Navan Gant. 50:50 balls, I felt Reilly got the better of O'Connor, he got his fist in most of the time knocking the ball away from him but Kildare had quality like Kavanagh and Doyle picking up possession. Our defense does lack experience eg. Keoghan, Menton, Tobin but they are certainly up to the occasion.

I would fancy Longford at home if the Wexford matches have not taken their toll although Derry will be determined to put their Donegal experience behind them. Longford 5/6 available in places.

Longford should come through that arkle but as you said Derry will be out to prove something, they certainly arent that bad. Likewise, Roscommon at home in Hyde to Armagh, they got an awful mauling by Galway a good few weeks back and they will be eager to make up for that.

Would the play be to wait till half time, hope Meath can hold them and then matbe avail of a better price on Kildare. Donegal are training 11 times a week according to Brolly, I imagine Kildare are similar, very difficult to compete with that, but if meath took on such a prograame I think they'd go very close to winning an All-Ireland.

I know in some of the poorer parts of the world they hand out food parcels but they would never call it a feast of adequate food !? Some may argue the same should apply here?

Hurling is a skillful game they play with skill, gaelic footballers should never be mentioned in the same sentence as them as none of this applies to them.

Feast is probably a bad choice of words alright - some of those gaelic footballers would be as tough as old boots especially those ones training 124 times a week.

Gaelic football players would run thru a brick wall for their manager, the Hurlers and soccer players would simply use the door.

Anyone know much about Tipp minor hurlers? They play tonight in the first Munster MHC semi-final. I was told a good few weeks back that Waterford have a serious minor team this year, they did beat Clare in the first round and the Banner have won the last two provincial champs.

Considering throwing a bit on Waterford at 13/8. Any info much appreciated, need that guard!

Ye emphatic win for Tipp last night. Went for Waterford afterall way off the mark. A 19 pt win for the Premier, will be surprised if we dont see them in an All Ireland final later on.

I'd stay clear of that one.

Things have gone pear shaped for Louth ever since Dublin gave them a hiding four weeks ago. Between emigration and injuries their panel has been decimated. And to make matters worse for the Wee County, their manager Peter Fitzpatrick will not be around tomorrow because of kidney stones and even worse again.. their ace man Paddy Keenan is ruled out. I couldnt believe they had to abandon training recently because four players were only available to train, sign of the times now!

You would have to fancy Westmeath at home in their back garden. They were hard beat at Cusack Park this year in the league..4 home games in Division 2, lost their first home fixture to Meath but won their remaining three against good opposition in Galway, Derry and Monaghan.

4 players at a trainig session!even with injuries and emigration, there is no excuse for that.obviously morale is low and are a shambles.thanks fly ,i will give them a swerve.btw i notice ,louth are now 3-1 with lads.

As someone who has attended 3 O'Bryne Cup games, 5 League ematches, 1 challenge match and 3 championship matches to-date all involving Meath, I would definitely say our forwards are a bigger concern than our backs. Although with Reilly out, probably makes the backs a lot weaker. But they've been very solid up until now, midfield has been woeful and forwards have been poor too.
