They must be serious with jp magnier not on board!
Report Temlett April 10, 2012 3:43 PM BST
The horse carries 10-11.

JP Magnier would not have done that weight since he made his confirmation.

Has Nina retired?
Report MJK April 10, 2012 5:40 PM BST
Not that I know of. But you knew that anyway. So what you're actually saying is that Nina is the best, and you're as entitled to your opinion as anyone. I like to judge a jockey on everything he/she rides, not just steering jobs which Nina gets plenty of. There's several male jockeys who Mangan would outride in a finish, not that sure about Nina on that score.

She'll have a job getting this one home, no cover and running terribly free.
Report Dan Chipowski April 10, 2012 6:05 PM BST
Hmmmm, nice prospect that horse. She might have been better served holding on a bit longer considering how it pulled.
Report The Gotchee April 10, 2012 6:20 PM BST
Poor ride by Jane, she has an awful lot to learn. Clearly on the best horse but she panicked. She wouldn't lace Nina's boots. I wouldn't totally blame her for losing the race, I would blame the idiot who gave her the ride. I can't understand how she got the ride in the first place. Is she related to some racing dynasty?
Report neill d April 10, 2012 7:43 PM BST
Thought she gave that a poor enough ride, caught wide, never settled and then set it up for the winner by kicking too soon. Not her best there.
Report Fayzer April 10, 2012 8:10 PM BST
The horse quickened like a real good un....pity it was still two furlongs from the winning post. I have to say it was one of the poorest rides Ive seen for a while.

Agree, lovely one for novice hurdles next season and if he has learned to race he'd have a fair chance in the Landrover as it seems a fair few of the better bumper horses this season are being minded for down the road.
Report Allduckornodinner April 11, 2012 12:11 AM BST
He can't run in the Land Rover. None of them can.
Report neill d April 11, 2012 12:47 AM BST
Apologies, mind if I ask why though Duck?

Was thinking of the Champion Bumper sponsored by Bet Chronicle this year, Landrover Bumper only for horses out of Goffs not Tattersalls as everyone else probably knew, forgot about the other bumpers. Great prizemoney today, good programme for Bumper horses in Ireland in the spring.

They'll hardly go traveling over here again with a nice horse like that in his bumper season. Wouldn't be surprised if he was left off until the autumn and turns up in the green and gold hoops on his next run.

It's about time one of those big money stores that Coolmore have bought in recent years has done something. For the quantity bought theres been few enough of them reaching the track and even less being successful.
Report neill d April 11, 2012 2:22 PM BST
What do you think of their NH stallion roster duck? I'd say when the likes of Yeats and eventually F&G end up there it will be very interesting.
Report by purpose April 11, 2012 3:58 PM BST
Those fools in Coolmore would be better off getting some of those wide boys from the point to point scene to pick them up some bloodstock.
Report Allduckornodinner April 11, 2012 5:21 PM BST
Neill D Coolmore two of the best NH sires around in Flemensfirth and Oscar. Both have contributed hugely in carrying on the great tradition of past sires stood by them. Milan has many admirers but while he has produced plenty of winners I am just a little sceptical about him as they really fired everything at him getting him off the ground. I think many of them are lacking a little in the speed department even for jump horses.

As for the rest Mahler has proved very popular with the smaller breeders and must have a fair few stock on the ground by now. He's apparently a very nice specimen, as nice as there is down there. Following on from him are Getaway and Ask who are also being aimed at the smaller breeder.

Westerner was a very good racehorse and is getting winners but they are a little too small for my liking as a rule. Vinnie Roe is a disappointment though not a surprise.

Yeats would be a great proposition for NH breeders if made available to them at reasonable cost and he'd rank far ahead of F&G as a stallion prospect for me.

She said that she was left in front too soon when the other two stopped to nothing.
Report neill d April 11, 2012 10:23 PM BST
Cheers duck, Yeats would be my pick as well, had an amazing presence and was a very good looking horse by all  by all accounts,  presume they are going to go this way with F&G as he won the Ascot Gold Cup, not sure what kind of jumps horses he would throw up though, might have the same problem you perceive with Westerner. The death of Montjeu might mean he stays with the flat game solely for a bit.  I'd say Yeats will get good flat horses if given the support.

I thought these two in particular were interesting as they were considered Derby candidates at 3, one came second and went off fav on the day, one was ante post fav before injury, they could bring the bit of precocity to the table that the French claim to have over Irish, although that could just be to do with the way they are trained.
