No point in posting that on this forum da fallon as its packed full of insiders and apologists, who'll no doubt have an explanation other than the horse wasn't off a yard.
Guess what Ruby reported the ground was too heavy for the Midnight Club's appalling run, yes of course Ruby, of all the horses previous wins all bar one had the word heavy in the description.
Goes to show they can churn out any old bull and nobody will dare question them.

I like the way they're leaking a couple of weeks before the national weights are announced that Cooldine seems to have lost its form and will most likely go hunter chasing next season. The recent change in ownership might well be another tactical maneuver to put people off the scent, wouldn't be surprised if the O'Learys still hold a controlling interest in the horse?.
You'd forgiven for thinking that this is indeed a ploy for the handicapper to buy into it and let his guard down and relent even further.
Should be interesting when the weights are announced and if Cooldine recieves a competitive weight will there be a sustained gamble on the horse?.

SG, I was just wondering what Mrs J M Mullins paid the O'Leary's. It wouldn't look good if it started cleaning up in it's races.
The O'Leary's have already lost their good two mile chaser Golden Silver five weeks ago. Maybe they just want to get out of the game.

Cooldine has no more chance of being competitive in the National than the man on the moon. He wouldn't even get round the bloody thing.
The O'Learys own Pride Of The Parish now.Cooldine has no more chance of being competitive in the National than the man on the moon. He wouldn't even get round the bloody thing.
yeh soapp if indeed the O'Leary's have indeed cut off all ties with the horse and it went on to win the national or run well in it they be entitled to question the recent poor performances of the horse.
That the horse has been persevered with suggests to me that it still retains ability?, but is not been allowed to show it on the track thus far.
Anyway at the moment its all conjecture and we won't know for sure until we see what the future unfolds.

The horse has lost his way and they are sending him hunting and then some point to points, this can sometimes rekindle a horses interest. There is no plot here, none whatsoever.

What do you think would be a realistic alternative? Shaft it off to stud? Horse has always been over rated if ye ask me,how it won an RSA ill never know,(Well actually i do,it beat nothing) probably the worst RSA in memory, when ye look what it beat, Horner Woods,Massinis Maguire,Carruthers,Casey Jones,What a Friend,Siegemaster,Bohemian Lass,The Market Man,Lodge Lane etc etc, So in summary,he's not a very good horse!

I think it almost certainly would have won the hennessey only for a very bad mistake 6 out, which was just enough for Jocol to reel him in close home. The horse was heavily backed on the lead up and on the day of the race, funny that was well after its RSA triumph?

The old style chasers could handle it,Arkle,Herring Gull,Spanish Steps,Proud Tarquin,Ten Up and Tied Cottage all had long successful careers but the more recent winners have an abysmal record afterwards.

Silver what about the three times he has gone off favourite since that Hennessy run? Were the punters on the ball when he was second to Joncol and then hoodwinked by Mullins those other days?

Denman - won Gold Cup, 2 Hennessys, Lexus, Aon Looks Like Trouble - won Gold Cup Long Run (beaten in RSA) - King George and Gold Cup winner Star De Mohaison - hacked up afterwards at Aintree before getting injured Weapons Amnesty - injured not run again Rule Supreme - won Irish Hennessy One Knight - won Welsh National Bostons Angel - too early to say, doesn't look good though but it was a rubbish race last year i think Cooldine - won a rubbish race as already stated
As i said i could be wrong with some of them but those are some recent winners and placed who have not been ruined. As i said i believe it to be a myth

Looks Like Trouble did ok Albertas Run has been back the to win at the festival on a number of occasions. Some would point to Lord Noelie but the form of Alexander Banquet and Native Upmanship was ok. Trabolgan came out and won a Hennessy. Garrison Savannah won a Gold Cup and Young Hustler has a very solid career afterwards. Florida Pearl stayed around for a while didn't he?
Some are just iffy horses before and after (Hanakham). Some are simply horses that won a poor renewal (Hussard Collonges among others.
I agree with PF that it is essentially a myth and lazy journalism to brand it a race that ruins horses. It is all down to the animal involved, how it was trained before and after.

Thats another part of it DV. On the day in the RSA Cooldine was absolutely on fire. He was sat lovely off the stupid early pace and winged fences down the back as the rest faltered. Turning down the hill it was a case of bar a fall. He had never looked the same horse since and thats nearly two years ago.

92 was a very tough race and was probably the best renewal of the race that there ever was, or at least that I can recall.
Miinnehoma beat Bradbury Star with Run for Free 3rd, Rough Quest 4th and Captain Dibble 5th.
Only Bradbury failed to win a Grand National of some description afterwards.
The hugely talented Mutare fell in the race. Michael Buckley does not seem to enjoy much better luck these days.

Which one is Jim Corr?

Cheers, she'd probably need the 1 and 2 to come together early to win and then follow the 5 around. She was absolutely destroyed by the 5 around the first 2 bends last week (was sore for a few days but seems a lot better now) and ran a blinder to somehow get 3rd even though it was messy up front.
Hopefuuly Monaghan do a bit better than you're anticapating

Whats so funny about that snaff?, did you not see many horses make a serious mistake in a race which ultimately cost them victory?.
Allduck, the horse hasn't exactly burn't rubber since, but at its best he's/was? a decent horse, they did think enough of him to run in the gold cup after his unlucky Hennessey bid, albeit finishing a well beaten fifth before going on to run a decent enough third at Punchestown. His RSA romp was not as bad as some are making out, he had both Carruthers and What A Friend well back in 4th and 6th respectively, Carruthers won the Hennessey at Newbury, WAF was runner up to Denman in the same race before running 4th in last years Gold Cup.
Royal Academy that same website was full of insider apologists as well us nay sayers and conspiracists, seems a lot of your kind have congregated on here too!.

Im not Jim Corr but I wish I was one of the Illuminati residing in the Irish Sports Forum....Cooldine has regressed, its a pity, but it happens. Maybe the horse will win some form of handicap if the handicapper lets go enough but that wont be proof of anything other than the horses abilities taking a nose dive.
And another topic which is relevant to the above is the Irish Handicappers death grip on a horses mark....a horse has to run badly multiple times for there to be any mercy, and even then its drip drip drip

As neither myself or Soapp are journalists its a bit harsh to call us lazy. It is a championship race so you would expect it to throw up champions but i think it does damage to horses but also accept that ye put up a fairly impressive list of horses some of which i had forgotten about.

yeah Norn its the kind of race you look back at and think, oh ye she was the bet, the rest all had questions, but she had a bit of form and genuine out

Silver the RSA was a bad race on the day. Carruthers went a suicidal pace and What A Friend dogged it that day. Horner Woods was second for fook sake. I though Cooldine looked a potential star that day but was a shadow of himself in Punchestown on his next start and has only shown glimpses at best since. Now don't tell me that Mullins has sacrificed the horses career since then just to get his mark low and target to try and win the National.

silver,no one can say for sure if he'd have won or not though,so its irrelevant tbh, ps Carruthers only won a Hennessey because they done a good job pulling the wool over everyones eyes schooling in public quite a lot with the beast,He'll never win another race again, wont need to,job has been done, What a Friend is as slow as a boat and gives Tidal Bay a run for his money as the biggest hound in training

It is spouted year in year out by the racing media who work full time in the game, when it has not been analysed properly. It then becomes embedded in the consciousness of many casual racing viewers and attendees, who accept what they hear frequently, as fact. I appreciate that does not apply to you, although I would disagree with you on the point.
The Arkle is a championship race as well and has a mix or very poor winners and quality horses, similar to the RSA.
Other than the golden era from 2002-2004, Klairon Davis, Flagship Uberalles and Sizing Europe, there have been some very moderate winners of that contest from thee early 90s as well, who have done very little subsequently. Some of these were really hyped afterwards (Tiutchev - my luckiest ever Champion Chase winning bet!!), but did not live up to it. Others were seen as average at the time and proved to be that and worse.
Like the RSA it depends on the horse and there are some excellent renewals and some very average years.

I don`t use smileys so failed to indicate i was skitting. It would be great to compare the two races as i think that would give the definitive answer,i will leave that to the statisticians.

You will see Cooldine been offloaded to some small handler just to play with. He's no addition, the change of owners says it all.
Finished.
