one of a few interesting bouts, egan surely at his peak for this ( unlike last year) , too tight to call imho

Joe has improved too surely.

Here he is easily beating Russian in the European Final.

think Joe was 7/4 or 2/1 last year

Is this going to be on the telly?
Report lookingforthewildman February 3, 2012 11:51 AM GMT
Is Joe Ward a traveller or a member of the settled......
Report tobywong. February 3, 2012 12:33 PM GMT

Egan now 8/11,,, Ward Evs.......i feel a wager coming on
Report Dan Chipowski February 3, 2012 3:10 PM GMT
Darren O'Neill has received a walkover tonight, you can still get 1/12 with Spoils. Silly
Report lookingforthewildman February 3, 2012 3:54 PM GMT
There could be real action tonight in Dublin.....especially if the travelling man doesnt win.....saying that Egans mob wouldnt be much better.....
Report Newmanix February 3, 2012 7:30 PM GMT
no bet for me, but i would be in Egans camp.
Report bardo February 3, 2012 8:05 PM GMT
heard boxing guru Mick Dowling tip Egan to win on the news.

He said in the last fight Egan had been docked 4pts and that's what cost him the win.

He said Egan has been traning well, and given that Dowling knows his stuff, my money is on Egan
Report Sir mix a lot February 3, 2012 8:51 PM GMT
Joe has achieved as much if not more than Egan already and is still 18. Watch how he handled the Russian above in a major final... Egan hedging his bets releasing his book last year and not after london. Joe all the way for me.
Report Dan Chipowski February 3, 2012 9:35 PM GMT
Ward teaching Kenny a lesson here.
Report Poohna February 3, 2012 9:39 PM GMT
does that mean egan misses olympics?

The end for kenny but no shame in it, a great champion as the man said & ward showing a bit of class in victory
Report lookingforthewildman February 3, 2012 9:59 PM GMT
Good advert for Irish sport.....Wards and McDonaghs and Joyce all scrapping......all we are short are the slashhooks.......they should have held this at the point......Pavey Point even.....Bardo i hope ya didnt take Dowlings advice......he said the 4 points he was deducted cost Egan the last time.....shame he lost by 5 though......
Report Sir mix a lot February 3, 2012 10:07 PM GMT
Joe is world class talent but all people want to talk about is that he's a traveller. Good ole Irish bitterness
Report lookingforthewildman February 3, 2012 10:25 PM GMT
You will find that this Ward will be the same as every other traveller when it comes to it......they like hunting in packs.....they will knock spots off somebody who they can intimidate.......but when its put up to them they'l turn on their heels......beating some wannabe celebrity who is really some 2 bob drunk is hardly the definition of world class either.....
Report Sir mix a lot February 3, 2012 10:31 PM GMT
double world champ 17, euro champ... you obviously know your boxing

Sounds like a run of the mill Bog ball GAA match.

Lads, might Egan turn pro, he would draw money for sure but is it too late?
Report tobywong. February 4, 2012 2:40 PM GMT
surely too late neill
Report neill d February 4, 2012 2:42 PM GMT
yeah probably,if I was him I'd do it though, he could make a handy few quid, he's a handsome affable kind of guy and I'm sure the sports department in RTE would be creaming themselves at the prospect
Report redbait February 4, 2012 3:31 PM GMT
If Joe was to win a medal at the Olympics, would there be any chance he would do an Amir Khan and turn pro straight away? He looks a big puncher that would be well suited to the pro ranks. Though, given he is so young, I'd be guessing another whirl at the Olympics in 2016 would be the percentage call.
Report G Hall February 4, 2012 9:32 PM GMT
thought Egan was awful last night, with those wild swings hard to believe he won an olympic medal, didn't show any boxing class at all,but maybe it was down to his opponent.
Report Newmanix February 4, 2012 9:38 PM GMT
sadly Egan is past it. 29-10 is a pasting. Ward is our great hope now. thought JJJ would have won, but just outboxed in round 1, and left too much to do in 2 and 3.
