Would GANT007 or Rocketfingers who are on first name terms with Noel Meade ask him on behalf of the forum why he ducked the two four year old bumpers with this very very very very good filly and ran her in an all aged Down Royal bumper.

Wildman maybe she wasnt ready to run in Naas......or they considered the ground too deep.....they were hardly going to run against Ned buntline......what stable run their top bumper horses against each other on their debuts....

Yourself in good company and your horses in bad company.Thought you would have known that one wildman you are of a vintage when that saying was first coined.

Two fair points but he is now telling us she is a champion. My own theory is he was told by a fat man not to take on Un Atout at Naas, the same gentleman told the Weld connections they had no chance at Naas on a quid pro quo basis with disastrous results as they promptly got Weld to withdraw Silver Concorde for bogus reasons.Willie Mullins had no runner in either the Leopardstown or Down Royal thus fulfilling his side of the bargain.

It is a strange enough place to start alright, but she couldn't have done it any better. There is something about these Meade horses and the way they travel, so exuberant. Maybe it is just that horses seem to run for the CarberrysLaugh, but she'd remind you a bit of Harchibald,Go Native,Dylan Ross the way they just cruise. I really like the way Meade Hurdlers jump and travel and I'd say she will really excell in that sphere.

If only they ran a little more of the bridle

Meade is happy to run some of his better horses there.

Monksland started there and Dylan Ross won a bumper there last year.

Willie Mullins even took his machine (was 7/1 or so for the bumper ahead of the run) Craanford Mill there to make its debut.

I'd forgotton that DV, maybe a sign that he has lost a little bit of confidence as the quality of his string has come down a bit.

A bit premature to be calling Fickle Fortune's bumper win as the best bumper performance in Ireland! The race she won was run at a crawl. Mark Me Up won the previous race in a time over 8 seconds faster than FF off just a rating of 85. It's hard to describe the runner-up as a "good yardstick" as he had only one previous run albeit a perfectly respectable debut second. The third home was by Milan (they stay all day). Backing hype horses at short prices is the road to the workhouse. And reliable top-class mares are few and far between. A nice introduction win no doubt but way too early to be getting carried away by a mare winning a slow run Down Royal bumper on heavy ground. In my opinion Champagne Fever and Venture Capital have shown at least a stone better form and probably nearer 20 pound better. She can improve and probably will but at the price she is likely to be there will almost certainly be value in opposing her next time out...win or lose!
