im not really feeling the euphoricness of qualifying this time, guess its because of the dull style in which they play, few nights of entertainment next summer but wouldn't travel to follow this team, did this qualification give the public a lift,im not sure tbh
Report irishro December 2, 2011 3:44 PM GMT
Group B won't be much fun for people going! A really looks the plum draw. A4 the ideal spot as all 3 games are in Wrocklaw.
As for our current dull style was it that much different in 1990 or 1994? Imo it will definitely lift the country.

Bit of value there I reckon cos we always get them!

Thanks china, thought my memory was going there when he said it was a fluke, maybe if Bonner had of held it or pushed it away from an oncoming Italian they wouldn't of scored but sure why let the truth get in the way just say it was a fluke Laugh

Anaglogs, there's a job at Sky Sports waiting for you !
Report db1974 December 2, 2011 8:20 PM GMT
The way the games fall is good for Ireland. Hopefully we can snatch a result against Croatia and then I assume we will lose to Spain in match #2. This should leave a winner-take-all match against Italy in the last match. It will be the most defensive match in European Championship history!
Report vinnie_roe December 2, 2011 8:33 PM GMT
We will beat croatia, draw with spain.
Italy will beat spain, and draw with croatia.
Ireland and Italy will play out a farcical draw.
Report Anaglogs Daughter December 2, 2011 8:38 PM GMT
Ask long as we missed Brazil i'm happy enough with the draw.
Report reb December 2, 2011 8:39 PM GMT
Spain likely to beat Ireland 1-0 or 2-0 (we wont be able to get the ball). Main thing is not to lose to Croats in opener and we have a chance.
Report JayTrumpOldTomDubbl December 2, 2011 8:45 PM GMT
So what group are Brazil actually in .......Aguero is playing well ...................Wink
Report vinnie_roe December 2, 2011 8:46 PM GMT
Spain will struggle against defensive minded sides. England, swiss and paraguay are prime examples.
Report reb December 2, 2011 8:47 PM GMT
Like Russia struggled against Ireland in Moscow.
Report thefly10 December 2, 2011 8:49 PM GMT
A very tough group but nothing was ever going to be easy!

First up Croatia, we drew 0-0 against them in August, it was an absolute bore as far as I remember we just stopped them from playing their game. Modric is the heart and soul of their side and when he gets going they're threatening. Prediction: Draw.

It's 'goodnight irene' against the Spaniards. It should be quite a spectacle- our middle of the park contingent v. their weapon of a midfield. Andrews has a fine pair of legs to dig in to them! Who knows but I cannot honestly see us getting a pop at goal. Prediction: Lose.

Italia: We're as good as Italy. Ballotelli is twice the player of any of our strikers no question. They couldn't score for **** (bit like us) but at the same time not easy to be creative against or break down. It will be interesting, I give us one hell o' a chance here! Prediction: Ireland win.

The main thing is, we're there!

As long as we do better than En-gerland I'm happy! Keep them boys down! Cool
Report JayTrumpOldTomDubbl December 2, 2011 8:50 PM GMT
Paraguay ? they innit as well .......what group, please ?
Report vinnie_roe December 2, 2011 9:12 PM GMT
The group stages look straight forward to me. Th hosts generally do well in major competitions, even South Africa (completely useless) managed to beat france and pick up 4pts in the last world cup. Awful style match ups for spain, facing both Italy and Ireland and look like certain casualties in the group stages. The attacking system of portugal will be too hot to handle for Germany and the Dutch.

Group A
Poland
Russia

Group B
Portugal
Germany

Group C
Ireland
Italy

Group D
Ukraine
France

Should pay 1000000/1 for the accum, and looks nailed on.

I see us not losing to Croatia. Maybe even a sneaky one nil win. I also see us giving Spain a tough game not losing. Even possibly nicking it one nil again. Then I see us hving a 2-2 again with the Eyetalians, before setting up a quarter final showdown against Engurlandshire. With a Robbie Keane strike smashing against the roof of the net. Then a semi final against Germany. I even see us getting through that. But then I see us losing controversially again to France and having our hearts broken...
Report shlotter December 5, 2011 1:16 AM GMT
One thing is for sure. NOBODY WILL FANCY PLAYING US!!!! ;)

Does anyone remember them inflatable hammers that were on sale for the 2002 World Cup? 'Hammered by the Irish!' was labelled on the head! I want one of these!
