3.15 - Satwa King (Should of won last time at Limerick i thought when the pilot was not great, obviously the same pilot is on today but at double figure odds i'm prepared to take the chance)
Report punchestown November 24, 2011 12:26 PM GMT
In the opener Jim Will Fix It should race prominently enough for a back to lay and is a good E/W bet.Couldn't have Bishopsfurze the way it jumps.

Will be having a nibble on  that one fantasy as well, had a hard enough race lto and is a concern for me more than the pilot.

Hit the bar there,a better jump at the last would have done it Sad

wd punchestown

Some difference with Bishopsfurze from hurdles to fences, i thought he jumped well, obviously has a lot more respect for the bigger obstacles

Unlucky Punch, couple of sketchy late leaps cost you. Sad

Agreed, didn't see any howlers today and normally at least one per hurdle race,Rathlin is another Stonemaster imo.

Was looking at him earlier do you know why he's been off so long ? I was of the idea that it could be down to the economy/nama given builders owners ! has the form in the book
Report punchestown November 24, 2011 1:45 PM GMT
Did you ever see the likes of Supreme Builder there, left 15 lengths clear and decides to wait on the others and then comes back on the bridle Laugh

No idea why he's been off , must have been injured and left the Mullins yard since (no idea why).
But I do know there is confidence behind him today.

2 I'm going for

3.15 Would You Do That looks to have conditions to suit and still looks well enough handicapped to win a race like this. Her hurdles record on soft or heavy over 2m to 2m2f excluding listed or graded race is 1 win and 2 places from 3 runs. She has run at Thurles 3 times, gaining 1 win and 2 seconds. Despite probably needing her first run this season she still ran well to get placed when 4th of 16 in a 2m4f Fairyhouse handicap hurdle on good ground off a mark of 91. The drop to 2m and softer ground clearly help on her next start where she was a 3½ length 3rd in a Wexford handicap hurdle off 90, form boosted by 4th and 5th both placing next time out. She put in her best run over hurdles since winning her maiden hurdle over 2m1f on heavy 3 years ago last time out when finishing a 7 length 2nd in a 2m Thurles handicap hurdle on soft to heavy, behind St Killians Run, who did the form no harm when finishing 5th of 17 in a handicap hurdle at the Cheltenham November meeting off 26lbs higher (British mark). The 3rd Really Unique also boosted the form by winning a Limerick handicap hurdle off 1lb higher and the 4th was placed off same mark on its next start. Would You Do That gained her last win in a 3m beginners chase here on soft to heavy and I do think she’ll benefit by the extra 2 furlongs in today’s 2m2f handicap hurdle. Ground is ideal and she seems to run here best races here at Thurles. She’s only up 1lb for her last run and off 91 she should go close.

3.45 Better Times
deserves some luck and could be up to winning this. On a quick glance at his form figures you might think he lacks the winning the mentality but he has come up against some very nice types. He has finished 2nd on his last 3 completed hurdles starts. The 3 horses to beat him have been Flat Out, who was 2nd in the grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle later that season, Cass Bligh, now rated 135 over hurdles and Fists Of Fury, who was placed in a couple of graded hurdles on next 2 starts before finishing 4th in the grade 1 Sefton at Aintree later in the season. Better Times won a 2m bumper on soft on first run in 09-10 season and was runner-up (to Fists Of Fury) in this race first time out last season, where he had back in 3rd, Marlay Park, who won a valuable handicap hurdle at the Fairyhouse National meeting later in the season off 121. 5th was a subsequent winner over fences and 6th won next time out, so form of last year’s race is strong. Better Times has only run once since when falling in a 2m6f maiden hurdle here when tracking the leader (impossible to know how he’d have fared). His two wins have come on soft and soft to heavy (both bumpers) and he's run well over this CD before. Davy Russell is an eye-catching booking (not sure he’s ever ridden for the yard before) and Cullen’s one runner this week was 2nd at Cork yesterday.

Very incisive tipping again today lads. If not winning, hitting the bar.

As Snipster today said riding for Denis Cullen could have been a first for him on Better Times which won. Also he got on a lucky spare Is Herself About. Ruby has his work cut out to win back his crown. Davy must have a very good agent.

I wonder has Paddy Flood got weight problems. He was riding for Denis Cullen recently yet not today's winner. He rode for Dessie Hughes last season and with Cooper out now would have been his chance to get going. At the week-end he rode a scrubber in a chase.

Punchestown referred to it but its worth restating the extraordinary performance of Supreme Builder.Left in front when two fell at the fourth last so he pulled himself up was joined by the peloton at the third last so started to race again back on the bridle, turning in was hassled by the loose horse who then jumped across him at the second last, hayes had to yank him back he then picked up again and rallied to beat the favourite.
It was a stunning performance in many ways but don`t think he can be trusted.

Paddy flood suffers from windyarseitis which prevents him from riding as often as he used to!
