Brilliant Tolmi,four correct answers.
Chris Chataway was a pacemaker for Roger Bannister when he broke the 4 minute mile barrier, later became a Tory M.P. Seb Coe followed in his footsteps.
Hill House won the Schweppes Gold Trophy in 1967 trained by Captain Ryan Price, failed a drug test but they later proved the horse manufactured his own dope,an excuse the French picked up on depriving Cairn Rouge of a Champion Stakes.
Jack Johnson the first coloured heavyweight champion.
Ole Olsson was three times speedway world champion in the seventies, the reference to the Sailor Swede comes from Robert Service "There was Ole Olsson the sailor Swede, the Dago kid and me"

Report wildmanfromborneo November 21, 2011 4:26 PM GMT
Well done Newmanix and you never even saw the question that was set with you in mind Q19.
Newcastle United are nicknamed the magpies latin name for magpie is pica pica.

Report Newmanix November 21, 2011 4:37 PM GMT
12. limestone lad?
Report wildmanfromborneo November 21, 2011 4:50 PM GMT
You quickly got the hang of it and although Limestone Lad fits the bill its not correct.
Q12.Famous Brownstown resident.
Brownstown was the McGrath stud farm and this fellow won the Sussex Stakes before heading there where he sired the Arc and Ascot Gold Cup winner Levmoss and the champion two year old My Swallow.
Report Tolmi November 21, 2011 9:05 PM GMT
12 is Le Levanstell so.I had narrowed it down to the stud but could not come up with the sire before your clue.
Report wildmanfromborneo November 21, 2011 11:46 PM GMT
Was playing cards all night so wrongly let things lie.
Le Levenstall correct that puts Tolmi one in front will revisit this in the morning and hope to wrap it up tomorrow but i have been delighted with the response and it has restored my faith in this forum.
Report wildmanfromborneo November 22, 2011 10:52 AM GMT
Tolmi you have my admiration, you are now two ahead.
Q26.Not at the start but four in the word.
This was the final clue so it should be starting with Z the comicut sign for sleeping came to mind and so did Zinedine Zidane but i hurriedly finished with what i thought was the only word in the English language with 4 Zs in it but Tolmi managed to come up with another pizzazz.I thought at first definitely not in the dictionery but looked it up this morning and it is there.
Will still accept the other word with 4 letter Zs in it as correct also, now if someone comes up with a third word.....
Report punchestown November 22, 2011 11:02 AM GMT
My old man always calls the bedroom the ZZZZatorium, does that count?Laugh
Report wildmanfromborneo November 22, 2011 11:21 AM GMT
Someone has just come up with a third.....
Two questions left one hurling and one racing.
Q17.He lost a town hall
Not an alliteration as Quack quack was the only one i could think of.
Q23.Hesitate like Robert Sangster for this Wells chaser.
Both Sangster and Vincent O`Brien had elocution lessons and their sentences were splattered with this one word expression also the name of a chaser from the fifties.
Oxo and ESB would be clues.
Report Distant View November 22, 2011 12:00 PM GMT
Razzmatazz would have to be 26 then?
Report wildmanfromborneo November 22, 2011 4:23 PM GMT

Report oggodeo November 22, 2011 8:39 PM GMT
7. shane supple??
Report wildmanfromborneo November 23, 2011 10:30 AM GMT
The answer to Q7 was Graham Geraghty.
Swapped a green shirt for a blue one.
Graham Geraghty a brilliant footballer for both Meath and Ireland later went into politics, joined the Fine Gael party hence the blue shirt reference.

Report wildmanfromborneo November 23, 2011 9:51 PM GMT
Night Nurse correct.
Q17 is a hurler and town hall is rhyming slang.
Q21 is an Irish Grand National winner and one of the answers to a very old racing question of my youth name three recent Grand National winners with three letters in their name,Oxo and ESB were 2 of them.
