2 miles is longer than 1 mile and 6 furlongs. hope this helps.

Wasn't the ground tacky...I think the 1m4f pace is gone now and i would imagine himself taking it up in races shorter than 2m4f could be normal ride in future years

The Irish Leger just wasnt Fame and Glory's day. The race he should have won was when beaten by Fictional Account. Only a token effort made by Heffernan. However he is some horse.

After the race, O'Brien said; "Everybody knew his big day this year was the Ascot Gold Cup, and he was trained very hard for that. Out of respect to the horse we had to be kind to him after that. We chased him hard for the Gold Cup and didn't want to do that to the horse twice in a year.
"He had his break and had his two nice comebacks and we're delighted with him today."

I reckon they took the foot of the peddle with him after winning the Ascot Gold cup. His two runs at the Curragh were gearing him up for today I think. 2m+ is F&G agenda now.

but beaten nearly a furlong at the curragh...was the ground not soft when he won the gold cup.....i just think there is one law for the big lads and another one for the little guys...the horse wasen't just beaten at the curragh it was legless ....now i know horses ain't machines..but surely there was a question to be answered after its run at the curragh i doubt if any were asked..imagine a small trainer having a top group1 winner .running it in a listed event and it gets beaten a long way ..then by some magic on its next run it wins another group 1 ..he runs it again after that win in a lesser race and its beat nearly a furlong ..then low and behold he runs it once again ..and yes you've guessed it ..it wins .....would the stewards be interested to know
how it improved by early 20 lenths ..yo bet your life they would...yet mr obrien sails merrily on...

Following the Yeats pattern really I supose but I see what you're saying alright, consistency the strong point of the Irish stewards. I'd say it is hard to keep a 5yo entire interested though tbf and F&G has been anabsolutely brilliant servant who in another era would be in demand at stud. He'll win the Gold Cup again next year.

Fame and Glory was so unfit at the Curragh it was embrassing
They only use the media to suit their own agenda hence the interview with ATR the day before to explain(Bulls*it) the 3Olbs difference between the 2 runs
