We were atrocious, gifted two goals tonight and hey we won 2-1!.
Dunphy spoke the truth, 'offended' , we need a change, the brand of football been played and team selection is all over the shop. As you said WR, things need to be looked asap. Of course Brady will complement Trap having assisted him a few years back. |

a france goal is vital for us

Is it vital, do we definitlely get in as a seed if france draw or better, seems to be a bit of confusion

Doyle has to be dropped even after the suspension. I like him but he's been terrible lately..and as for Hunt??? no skill whatsoever. I cannot believe the reception he got. The biggest headless chicken I've seen

Andrews looks like a lad that won a competition (for paying his car insurance with aviva by direct debit) to play a few minutes with the irish soccer team and gets a signed jersey to bring home after

estonia, bosnia or montenegro would be good

We can't get Bosnia. I've started a separate thread for the playoffs

The standard of British/Irish football is wank. The attitude to football in these parts of the world is wrong, the wrong mindset is brainwashed into players from a young age and this is what you see. Armenia can count themselves very unlucky. We are truly disgusting to watch and it makes me sick tbh, the national version of stoke
|
|
By:
so how will the seeding work, have we a chance? I would seriously doubt it given previous history and the quality of teams left in....Im sure if there is any wriggle room for UEFA with how the seeding is done we definitely wont be seeded
|
|
By:
WWCD you've hit the nail on its head. We are still in the Dark Ages in terms of how we play football.
|
|
By:
Not a lot of positives from a playing perspective tonight, but then again we never really expected any.
![]() Given was poor for their goal, St. Ledger was very jittery. Duff was decent as always, McGeady very poor in possession, the two boys in central mid embarrassing as always and Doyle seems to get worse by the game. Cox was a positive, he worked hard but that can't disguise the fact he has limited ability. Walters did well when he came on. I hope we win the playoff, but if we're beaten then Trap's time is up and a new manager can start building the team around McCarthy, Coleman, Long, etc. |

Very little coverage of deliberate handball leading to goalkeepers sending off. Thierry Henry would not approve... at least he apoolgised
|

Trapdoor toni obviously doesnt help matters. A very nice gentleman, no doubt and a great manager but his tactics belong to a dead era. Attitude to football here is.....kick it into the channels, work hard, fight for second balls, get in opponents faces, kick them, do whatever to put them of. I am fcuking sick of watching those two cart horses in centre midfield, in particular Andrews
Look at the Armenia players and how classy they were on the ball. Needs a total change of mindset |

Puzzled me how the RTE panel think it was inconclusive whether the keeper handled the ball or not, he quite clearly did not handle the ball.
Even more amazing was when sky showed the ref before the 2nd half the incident on a monitor with the clear angle and he still said he handled the ball Surely UEFa should not let this clown referee any more big games. The ref also missed a clear pen for Ireland near the end and gave a corner ![]() Oh yes and we are cack, can barely string 2 passes together, thank god the ref gave the red card and that loon scored the hilarous own goal as we would not have beat them had those 2 things gone in our favour. |

fair points dan ,and wwcd..i think we all agree on the limits of our footballers , toxic , is a word that springs to mind...

|
By:
you be pleased to know premier that tonight's game was his last in international football ...
|
|
By:
McCarthy, Long, Greg Cunningham, Ciaran Clarke, Coleman and Fahy would make a huge difference to this team, people saying we've no players are wrong imo.
|
|
By:
That was the refs last game tonight, so UEFA can do what they like!!!

By:
must of wanted to leave a mark with those crazeball decisions |

I agree neill d, get the footballers on the pitch, the few we have anyway. Imo, you could then get something out of Mc Geady. I would love to see Ireland play fahey, a player with composure and ability
|
|
By:
agreed, It won't change now, but if by some miracle we qualify, he should really make an effort to integrate them.

Just back delighted with the win, 21 points is a decent haul from the group. Simon Cox is a good player i really like this lad he is an intelligent footballer. Walters done well when he came on but Kelly was poor and McGeady is an absolute shocker of player imo. I thought we were the better team when it was 11 v 11. We may have got the breaks tonight but Doyle should have scored from the cross that lead to that OG anyway, actually all the goals tonight were soft. At times we played some decent ball and we deserved our win with us sitting back in the second half. One last thing i thought the atmosphere in the ground tonight was quite good and will be back for the playoff.

By:
We played some decent ball rocketfingers? We where the better team when it was 11 v 11? Think you got caught up in the athmosphere. We couldn't string 2 passes together when it was 11 v 11.

You're listening too much to that fool Dunphy premier, when it was 11 v 11 Ireland had a great chance via Doyle, they had none, nothing on target during the period from them and no way imo to say they were on top. I honestly thought we tried to take the ball down at 'times', and use it which was a big positive on the last few matches, obviously i would like to see much more of it. In the second half at 2-1 we sat deep alright but we were not hanging on exactly, people want us to attack all the time that's a little naive imo. I thought the 15 minutes after half times we nearly got in a few times with Cox and Kelly via neat play and this period was our best in the match.
They had some lovely footballers, number 14 and 18 and was it number 6 all very good technical players, they're a decent side but they looked weak at the back and defending is part of the game too and i thought we defended very well last night bar the goal. That's my view of it anyway i thought they were positives from it first 60 Ireland last 30 belonged to Armenia when we decided to defend. I had Armenia bet pre-match and fair enough we got the breaks but Hunt looked like he had a stonewall penalty not given, so i don't think they were exceptionally unlucky. Anybody i spoke to after the game seemed to think it was an ok match, i thought this game was watchable. |

How good are Russia.

how the **** a player of mcgeadys standard earns 50k a week is beyond me , the man is muck , gives the ball away continuously

Ireland played no decent football last night imo rocket fingers, it is easy to get caught up in the atmosphere as it was a big occasion
