Had a 14/1 winner in a shop multiples bet yesterday with ppower, tried to collect today and was told I missed the price by 26 SECONDS and I was being paid at 11/1.
Havent collected yet, rang them today and they wouldnt make an exception.
There were a couple of people in front of me in the queue trying to get dog bets on in time, my bet was put on over 5 hours before the race time I obviously wasn't trying to steal a bigger price.
The price i missed was the first of 4 horses on the bet, obviously takes longer than 26 seconds to write the names, prices of horses, meetings, times and stakes!
After that bet I did 4 more bets and the last one was put through 22 mins after the winning one, in this 22 mins the staff didnt inform me that I had missed the price.
Any advice on what route I should go down to try to get paid out fairly?

Posting on the Betfair forum is a good way to make sure you don't get paid.
you were late..end of.forget it and be glad of an 11/1 winner.if it went out you would also get paid so forget it

Fair shout Kaavie. Bet365 recently emailed me to say a bet struck at a shorter price was incorrect and would be settled at the correct price. Celtic shops used to be the same, you got whatever the price was the time the bet was struck regardless whether it was greater or shorter. If the bet had been placed online 26secs late is the same as 26 hours late. Unlucky timing but get over it.
Powers knock out early prices all the time. What he means was had your selection been pushed out to 16/1 26secs before you placed your bet you would have got the 16s
Have you history with them surprised they did not use discretion with you on this one unless they had problems or already used discretion with you before

nah no history with them and never used discretion before, first time i complained in years of punting with them, didn't really know what to do when they didn't make an exception when I rang them up so thought i'd get a few ideas on the forum
All you can probably do is ask for the number of the area manager. Contact them and make your case if you feel discretion should be applied. I'm sure they will look into it for you. I did contact Powers once about an in running price query and after giving them the slip details they provided me with the price changes that satisfied my query. If saved me going to the shop and assuring the staff of incompetence when I was in the wrong!
Bottom line - PP can do whatever they like.
IBAS will only back you if the bookie has clearly broken his own rules. And the courts won't get involved in a betting dispute.
By all means throw yourself on the mercy of the area manager. He/She will probably give you a fair hearing.
But ultimately if you remain unhappy the only sanction available is to take your business some place else.

Some sickner though. A monkey down the pan for being less than half a minute late. And if there was people in the queue before you Crispyman and you made them aware of this, common sense and a bit of fairness should have kicked in. I mean 26secs , FFS. There not worried about your custom obviously, safe in the knowledge that thousands of 2,5,10,20 50 euro punters across the country will more than make up for losing you. All about profits from the virtual racing,soccer,dogs,golf. ROBBERS.
common sense should be applied in this case, clearly you have not set out to nick a price being as it was the top horse in a multiple.

IBAS is not independent as stated in its title. It is run by SIS which is owned by the major bookmakers. I had a cast iron case thrown out by IBAS a few years ago. Forget about them, they are the bookies poodle as can be seen from their annual report where they ruled in favour of the bookmaker in over 90% of cases.
i was talking to an english guy on the train going to fontwell...he said the exact same thing as you re ibas..he had a decision go against him a few weeks ago...like you he felt he had stone wall case ..thrown out by iho the bookies friends.....
fair play to them they contacted me during the week and paid me at the 14s
