There is a low attention span among the attack dogs and an inability to read or understand long posts. All the racing posters will understand that Blackwater made a very valid post with an excellent point,i responded citing the Martin Scruff case without making judgement, his post was about perception.Nobody i know that watched the Martin Scruff race used the words "not off" it was either an injudicious ride or stopped depending on your viewpoint.

Kaavie, I've on idea why you are linking me to in house bitching on here. I post on things I have an opinion on. I don't jump from thread to thread attacking people.

Earlier in this thread Blackwater stated "How common is it for legendary gambler to hand prominent jockeys cheques for £50,000" I replied "Blackwater i hadn`t looked on it that way but now agree that it doesn`t look good, makes Martin Scruff spring to mind" this exchange prompted a barrage of posts from the usual crew who didn`t understand it,that in itself doesn`t bother me but the fact that no one else seemed to get the point did.Are all threads read in a desultory manner and does anyone remember the infamous Martin Scruff affair, also when some of the more reasoned posters came on they commented on the bickering but never made any reference to the original post.Maybe i expect too much of posters but there are some good ones.

Martin Scruff went off at around 1/2, IIRC.
PS my HAND is BREAKing |

Was there not story doing the rounds with Martin Scruff that Carberry was taking the piss beating the 3rd on the bridle believing him to be leading the race. i.e he did not realise the eventual winner was in front of them both on the run in. A complete misjudgemet rather than anything to do with exchanges. That's what I believe happened anyway.
|
|
By:
I actually agree with you Tradefair and i backed Martin Scruff but perception is important and Blackwaters point about a gambler handing over a fifty grand cheque is valid.I think there was around 400 grand traded on the race at nearly twos on the last thing you want is an association with a gambler and the jockey.
The biggest layer on the purple by a long way is a son of a legendary gambler which is why the purple won`t allow access to their accounts. |

It's a strange one. I don't watch the Late Late but I can't think of a good reason to mention the bet in public. Mere mortals giving up drinking with aim of dealing with a problem not a 50k wedge. I'm sure plenty of cynics would say he's still drinking anyway.

|
By:
no he aint drinking unless ya call red bull alcohol cause he drinks it flat out and no vodka in it

Hate the way we seem to applaud the whole jack the lad approach that he led, big laugh when he rode a horse into a pub sending women and children scattering for their safety, all well and good until the horse spooks and carnage ensues.
big laugh when he describes being so hungover that he could hardly see the fences, sad that someone would put himself and others lives/careers in jeopardy not to mention the damage he could have done to the horse. without a doubt a talented jockey, just dont see why we should celebrate him acting the fool or being totally unprofessional by not being in a position give his all to his employer. |

He was on the late late promoting his book which is coming out soon. The story of the 50k is in the book so was hardly giving anything away. He also said he asked JP's permission to put the story in the book. Im sure if there was anything dodgy or underhand about it all it wouldnt be made public in a book or on TV
