Just got my money back on their Rooney offer from last weekend (money back if Rooney scored anytime w/d/w market) as he didn't play - If you backed either Stoke or Man Utd I'd imagine you should be entitled to your money (up to €100) - Although they did just say that I would be the only one getting my money back?? Fair from my perspective [:)][:)][:)] but I think they know they are wrong in this situation [>o][>o][>o]

Why should you get your money back at all?

Not having a go, just don't see why you should get your money back
Report Raw Deal September 30, 2011 10:33 AM BST
I backed Man Utd to win with them under the notion that if Rooney scored I would get my money back if the lost or it was a draw (as their offer stated) - Rooney didn't play so the bet should be cancelled/void -

Yeah I see your point. Still don't think that you should get your money back though.

You pay your money, you take your chances IMO.

Thanks for your opinion but its clear that Ladbrokes agree with me as they have paid me back. This has now caused a VERY unfair situation for the thousands of other customers who backed Man Utd or Stoke and are unaware that they are entitled to get their money back.

You should change your forum name to "Incredible Deal" !

Actually Ladbrokes don't really agree with you if they said that you would be the only one getting your money back. They obviously just didn't want to put up with your whining!
Report Raw Deal September 30, 2011 11:14 AM BST
They have admitted they were wrong and have paid me my money back - I think a more logical explanation of their motives would be that they are giving me my money back so I will be quiet and this will be put to bed. As I pointed out to them they had not outlined anything in their terms and conditions about this offer.

This is not about whining its about customers getting what's rightly owed to them.

Fair enough

I got caught on a similar special with Boyles a couple of years ago when Deco got injured in the warm-up

I didn't ask for my money back though because I couldn't see how I could justify it
Report Raw Deal September 30, 2011 11:28 AM BST
Would you have had the bet without the offer on Deco???
Report reb September 30, 2011 11:37 AM BST
Raw Deal, did you tell the Ladbrokes employee, at the time you were placing your bet, that you wouldn't be placing it without the Rooney offer ?
Report Raw Deal September 30, 2011 11:40 AM BST
Did they tell me when I was having the bet either by word of mouth or in their terms and conditions that if Rooney didn't play the bet would stand??

No to both questions.

raw deal, they probaply gave you back your fiver for two reasons, the first that they couldnt stick listening to you any longer, the second, they couldnt understand what you were saying
Report db1974 September 30, 2011 11:46 AM BST
It wasn't as simple as that

I had 3 different bets structured in such a away that if Deco scored then I would have gotten an effective rate of ~ 10/1 on him scoring in 90 mins, normal price is usually about 6/4

I just took it on the chin because I had done a few other similar bets in other weeks and didn't want to rock the boat

In hindsight it was quite funny. I waited until 30 mins before the match to make sure he was named in the starting line-up. Then I hared around to 3 different Boyles shops to get the bets on. I got back home with 5 mins to kick-off to hear the news that he was injured in the warm-up and wouldn't play. I was very tempted to go out and buy a cat just to kick it!

You seem to expect your money back on an odds on shot because one player didn't play.

You are lucky to get your money back. No bookie should really be expected to be paying you back on it. He didn't play is just hard luck.
Report vinnie_roe September 30, 2011 8:46 PM BST
If your bet had won, would you only be interested in getting your money back?
Report Kelly September 30, 2011 9:47 PM BST
Clear case of ineffective rules emanating from the bookie .  Terms and conditions should have stated the terms under which the bet was made . I seldom bet on these type of offers , but it behoves everybody to get the terms and conditions down in black and white .

The proposition  about doing the bet in the first place obviously includes an assumption that the player concerned actaually plays  , otherwise the window dressing on the bet , encouragement to bet , whatever you call it  , is worthless . Easy for the rules to be specific on that .  Otherwise all punters in the case concerned could quote palpable error , putting the boot on the other foot  , and get their money back on basis that odds offered included a factor which failed to occur .
Report Cupwinkcook September 30, 2011 10:53 PM BST
Remember on these offers you have to oppose the player's team to make it worthwhile

If Rooney plays and scores, chances are you won't be collecting on ManU drawing or losing, so these are the bets you should be arbing.

Clear case of mug betting really.

Seems I got scammed on this one too, AND I HAVENT GOT MY MONEY BACK! I have been sent from customer services to shop and back, basically to be told I have no idea what I am talking about. Ladbrokes have caused me so much time and embarrassment at this stage I am determined to see justice now. Raw deal did they really pay money back on your bet? Cant believe they would screw all the other punters who bet on the match like that. It is totally unfair. How can they justifiably discriminate like that?

Roger give their PR department a call on 0044-208-5155458 and ask for Alex. No point in speaking with customer services as they will only have you running in circles.

Best of luck
