That is definitely the wrong decision, regardless of the outcome in the race, I cannot see one valid reason that is in the best interests of the horse both on Sunday and in his future career that justifies this decision, to paraphrase McEnroe, 'they cannot be **** serious.' Seamie gave him a great ride at sandown I thought and he got him home when he wasn't fully wound up last time, seamie must be pissed.
I'd say Murtagh knew this kind of thing was going to happen when he got away, he now has the Lyons job, who is going to be receiving the patronage of a man with more money than the Al maktoums and a resurgent Oxx, no flies on Murtagh, short term pain, for long term gain, and a shorter commute

IRISH training genius Aidan O'Brien will wait until later in the week before finalising riding plans for champion So You Think in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday.
The ex-Australian superstar has been ridden by Ryan Moore and Seamie Heffernan since arriving in Europe, and with Moore expected to partner Workforce in the Arc, Heffernan would appear in pole position.
However, O'Brien, who added that the five-year-old could be joined by both St Nicholas Abbey and Seville at Longchamp, told English reporters yesterday: "There's a week to go and we'll take it day by day.
"Usually what happens is that they do their last piece of work during the week and then they have their tests - their bloods and scopes, that sort of thing. It's one step at a time."
Thats from last night

I don't give SYT a prayer in the arc, all his runs this year suggests strongly that the extra two furlongs would stretch him to the limit against the cream of Europe, looks like Coolmore think the same and won't run him to protect his over hyped reputation and will look for another soft group one over 10f or maybe even retire him for the season or for good? if the drift and suspended betting are anything to go by?.

I suspect So You Think has run his last race. They know he is a below average G1 performer and has no chance in the Arc. Why would they risk running him in a top class G1 event knowing he won't even get placed. Their best strategy is to retire him now. He has proven that he is no superstar, why risk running to confirm it?

a truly puzzling post.
hes already beat the derby and arc winner and a dual oaks/ japan cup winner.
to call him a 'below average g1 winner' makes absolutely no sense!

Viva, Rewilding wore him down and would have been well on top if they went much further, SYT got past Workforce but wasn't going away at the finish seemed to running up and down in the one spot when he hit the front, Snow Fairy was gaining on him steadily and would surely have beaten him if they had much more to travel. Both Snow Fairy and Workforce showed their best form over 12, its not anti Coolmore its just race reading and all the evidence to me suggests this horse will be wiped out over 12f against the very best, I don't belive for one second this horse was idling.

You have no case with Workforce and Snow Fairy. Watch both races again, neither made any headway into So You Think's lead in the last furlong. If anything, the horse was going away by the time they hit the line. RP in running comments confirm my opinion. I'd also throw it out there that SYT was not fully 100% for the Irish Champion.
Rewilding, you have a case. But he was helped by sitting so far off a hot pace whereas SYT chased it and got racing a lot earlier in the straight too. The laws of racing dictate that Rewilding should be eating into SYT's lead the closer they got to the line. Sure enough, this was the case. If SYT was ridden as prominently off a similiarly fast pace over 12f, then you would expect the same kind of thing to happen. Hopefully that won't happen though.

He beat a very below par Workforce who himself was beaten next time out by a 115 rated Nathaniel. He is then all out to beat Snow F airy who at her best was rated 120 and she wasn't at her best when second to SYT. If s SYT wins the Arc I will give up backing horses.

i dont fancy him for the arc either but there is nothing to suggest WF ran below par, what are u basing this on? the fact he was beat? even his trainer said he was spot on and there was no excuses!
wf ran poorly at ascot in the previous KG and perhaps ascot just isnt his track like so many!!
the fact remains there will always be excuses made!! had WF beat syt the same margin he was beaten himself he would prob get more credit!

Viva, I looked at the champion again, SYT was always holding SF for most of the last 2 furlongs but as the line was coming she's quite clearly gaining on him slowly it has to be said, looked very much like to me SYT had very little left in the tank, youtube link to race below

Anyone notice the horse who finished around 6L behind at both Ascot and Sandown "Sri Putra" was well and truely thumped in a lowly group 3 at Newbury behind improving but hardly group one winner waiting to happen Green Destiny, beaten 8L, hardly rubbers stamps the form of SYT.

I believe WF ran below par against SYT on the basis that Stoute's stable, at the time was on a 30 run loosing streak. Under those circumstances I find it hard to believe he was spot on.

SG can't say I agree with your comments there. Seamie was just pushing the horse out at the death he knew he'd done enough. To be fair the horse was out in front for fully 2F & held off an extremely talented filly. His sire High Chaparral won 4 Group races at 1m4f I think he'll stay & if produced at the right time has the ability to win. Whether he IS good enough well we'll find out on the day, assuming he runs & Joseph O'Brien is up to the task - should he be on board of course.

The Gotchee is a bit of an idiot and probably has an alterior motive for his comments. SYT is a genuine Group 1 horse and has proved it many times , top class over 1m and 1m2f. Now I won't back him over 1m4f if the French water heavily (as I expect them to do).

You couldn't knock him MTN Derby(fastest) & Arc last year also same prep this year also well proven at the trip. I'm just not sure that level of form has been produced yet this year but GL God knows they'll all need it if they're gonna be in with a shout at the death.

Cat amongst the pigeons time. Just checked High Chaparral has sired 5 G1 winners to date. Four out of the five have won a G1 at 1m4f only one that hasn't SYT who's never run at the trip. To my mind he's simply not going to stay is he?

So You Think 5 yr old... has won 6 Group 1's at 1m2f 1 Group 1 at 1m2.5f 2 Group 1's at 1m
So he has won 9 Group 1's at the age of 5 , deserves respect in my opinion.
I repeat I won't back him on soft ground over 1m4f (I may be wrong)... but still a Group 1 horse!

If he is that good why has he not run in any G 1s over a mile in Europe? Why did the Australian handicapper allocate him a handicap mark equivalent to 116 for the Melbourne Cup? Mrtopnotch, I think someone with your intelligence would be able to work that one out.

With sizzling temperatures over Europe at the moment Dave Duggan sugessted on The Irish Angle on ATR that Ryan Moore could yet come in for the ride on SYT if as seems likely that WR won't be risked on the likely fast ground.
