..I'm thinking of having 200 euro on this lad at 5/4 for the race on Sunday..it is a very very big bet for me..what's peoples opinion on the race?..
..I thought he was awesome last time at Leopardstown and well done to the wildman for putting him up here..the opposition i don't think are great..well o briend=s don't seem to be brilliant and i think this lad could be a superstar..
He looked very good at Leopardstown and is rightly a short priced favourite in my opinion, i think he will win the race. If you can afford to lose the 200 then go ahead, if not lower your stake

gotta say if it was anything worse than good i wouldnt be playing him!!
i still like ATHENS, currently 12/1 but feel he was not ridden to best affect v ak mo last time they met. im aware he was beat with ease but i guess thats factored in to the price, id be hopeful he'd at least finish closer if hes ridden more prominently!
gl with your bet, prob wont play the race tbh but will watch the market on the day!

The fact he is Oxx and he is 5/4 tells me he is probably v good, it might well be time to step in, oppo don't look great, i'll probanly follow you with a 50, just that Oxx good hoss vibe that one can sometimes get for me, puts me in mind of STS, Mourayan and that yellow flower that kills cattle, cant be 2.5 years ago can it?

Hit the jackpot e/w at 33/1 will do for me. This is serious value imo. Had good form behind some decent types before cantering home in a Galway maiden and turning over a ballydoyle hotpot.

I backed this thing after decs on Friday. Not aftertiming here but as the hype machine kicked in and the price dropped I genuinely knew it would not win. Irish hype horses are a bookies benefit. I could only laugh at that Oxx interview today. Claiming the ground should be fine. They couldn`t give it away on here. Then he has the cheek to say that Irish racing has no God(who)-given right to be remain world leaders! You don`t say!? Does he ever contemplate why punters are disappearing in droves?

Giant Strides,I'd say they're sorry they ran the fav today as it had a hard race even though JPM put the stick away early enough,it was hard work from the 3f to 1f pole.

I think the horse may have injured himself coming out of the stalls,he certainly seemed to flinch.A mile on that ground may have been just too far and he had a hard race, still think he is a good horse. Shaneboy dont be hard on yourself you availed of a decent price and backed him a few days before the race, you were not to know there would be a deluge that would turn the ground heavy, thats one of the pitfalls of backing before the day.

I don't think he has done his Derby hopes any harm there tbh, he probably won't have to encounter ground like that on the important 3yo dates lkike the Derby either, I think there are worse 20/1 shots flying about, David Livingstone was allowed to set his own pace and any decent group horse that settles is going to be dangerous then, not even taking into account the inexperience aand greenness of the fav, he'd have had hin in another 100 yards.

He did yes, and the way AOB is training them these days, he could be very good, he doesn't mind them getting beaten, just lets them come on from race to race, developing and developing.

Indeed he did sof. I doubt he`ll ever beat him again though. The 2nd is a very good horse. I didn`t notice anything as they broke but I`ve no reason to doubt. I`m just tired of the bs that comes out of their trainer's mouths. You`re right punchestown. He had a rough race in defeat and they probably regret running. But why did Oxx say he would act on it!? The ground was officially yielding to soft, certainly not heavy. And on that point. Does it rain 24-7 in Kildare? Navan was only rain free for a maybe 3 days but the ground up here yesterday looked faster than the official "good". WTF is wrong with that hq dump? I have a large pain in my AHOLE with Irish racing. I don`t understand the patriotism behind it on here. It`s quite simply a joke sport.

Can't agree with some of your comments GS. Firstly the point about that it couldn't be given away. I would put the drift on AM down to the market correcting itself; he was after all a maiden winner (albeit an impressive one) going against a pair of APOB colts that were 3rd and 4th in a Gr1 LTO. Also you seem to be knocking Oxx for saying he would handle the ground. Trainers only give their opinion - though most are full of ****, I grant you, Oxx isn't one of them - and how would he know if he would handle ground that bad as he would not have been asked a question on it at home beforehand. Anyway, there was nothing to say that he didn't handle the ground today; I suspect he will prove better on better ground but to be beaten less than a length in a Gr2, conceding first run to the winner, says that he handled it, if not enjoyed it. Irish racing is far from a joke sport. It is run by some utter clowns but it has many good things (quality of horse, jockey and trainer, decent prize money, largely fine tracks).

Maybe you`re right Prospero. I just don`t enjoy it anymore. All my passion for it has gone. Greedy people I can`t associate with. Been burned more times than I care to remember. I`m not a favourite backer per say but it appears to me that there`s a health warning attached to backing favs here that doesn`t exist in other countries.

..yes i done my money and i am happy that pleased you retardfingers..the difference between me and you is though that i don't come on here pretending i didn't back him after he has got beat..i came on here and admitted i done my money and had got it wrong..i don't feel the need to big myself up and can freely admit i am no great punter..

Lovely bit of after timing by Dave who also didn`t read the full thread,if he did he would have realised that Shaneboy backed the horse ante post so did not know the state of the ground.

Dave is spot on Wildman you'd need your heads tested backing on that ground, quick check of the weather forecast would have had Shaneboy finishing with the rest of us instead of having to do OT just to bet , Shaneboy i'm having a great laugh !!!! :D

The ground was good to yielding on Thursday and Friday and changed to yielding on sunday that changed to yielding to soft later and then after the first race was changed to soft. A clue to the change of ground was the large number of withdrawals because of the ground also there are a lot of ground descriptions between firm and heavy.

..i thought the horse would win..i was wrong and he lost..i admitted that and didn't start telling lies like some people and pretending i didn't bet it after it got beat..
..i have a job and am not a dole scrounger..some find that funny but i am proud to be working and not dependent on the tax payers in this country to get by..like some people..
..retardfingers i have shown you up many times for the liar you are so i do not see what you have to laugh at..

Duggan the unofficial Coolmore ATR PR Guru, knock the opponent at every opportunity while singing the praises of all things Coolmore.
On ATR yesterday the Guru has no doubt whatsoever that SYT will stay the ARC trip, putting across the weak argument that he finished 3rd in the 2 mile Melbourne Cup (run at a crawl) a group horse in against mostly glorified handicappers, does Fame and Glory truely stay the Ascot Gold Cup distance or is their a strong argument to suggest that class will out against very slow horses?.
According to Duggan everybody else is a fool for even harbouring doubts about SYT's Arc credentials although I and many others have noticed possible chinks in his armour, his ability to stay competitive against the very best of what Europe has to offer over the extended trip, he won't be taking on the best of what Australasia has to offer this time but the cream of Europe which is a whole new ball game.
I believe if he's to remain competitive over the 12F they will probably have to hold the horse up out the back, to run the horse prominently which they've done up to now I believe would be fatal, but been held up at the back in a 19 strong field can have its own pitfalls ie luck in running.
Galikova for me, she looks an ew steal, won very cosily last time and you can be sure they also left a bit to work on as all French trainers do, the Arc trials are just that trials!. I'm also having a little savour on Nakayama Festa narrowly beaten by Workforce last year, Ryan Moore's strength probably the difference between winning and losing?, wouldn't read too much into that trial defeat, 20/1 looks huge in comparison to many others at shorter odds, if Nakayama Festa was trained by Fabre the horse would probably be around 6/1.

That performance against of Snow Fairy was very good if it was the Snow Fairy that ran in the Far East late last year, she looked right back to her best to me. I think there may be something in the fact that the horse hasn't been 100% fit up to now, I can imagine that it can be tough to get a big burly 5yo entire fully fit, he travelled formidably through the race in the Irish Champion and one could see why they think he could win a european Group 1 at a mile.
O'Brien clearly isn't doing much with his horses at home these times just letting them progress from race to race. SYT always travels like the best horse in every race he has contested so far, and if they have the fittest they have ever had him just now, I think it is more probable than not taking into account his breeding and that Melbourne Cup run that he will just about get the trip. I think he can win and I don't think they would risk his reputation here if they didn't think he could. Given the way Cummings trained and campaigned him, this race will leave him spot on for the Ascot Champion Stakes and I think he is probably an even better bet for that race as the only horse in Europe that will beat him at 1m2f is Frankel in my oppinion.

Race has cut up a little down to 16 runners, SYT drawn 14 which has probably played their hand a little leaving them not much option but to drop the horse in, I can't see them racing up on the outside to tag in behind a possible Ballydoyle pacemaker?. I agree neill d that SYT has travelled like the best horse in all his races so far, but seems to me to have only one sharp burst of speed and then seems to almost thread water in the last furlong often very hard ridden just to scrape home, against Rewilding he was overhauled, so giving the horse plenty of cover in the ARC would be no bad thing imo, but I can't get those extra two furlongs out of my head, if he's ridden prominently I can see the horse been swamped by the fast finishers, either ways I won't be backing him whatever tactics they decide on the day.
If you believe that Snow Fairy was close to her best that day against SYT, well considering she was beaten a closing half length at Leopardstown looked more like a neck to me surely she represents better value than SYT now that she's back to her best trip on Sunday?.

That is an interesting way of looking at it silver, I don't really know for certain what I'm backing in the race atm. I think we'll see a better SYT on Sunday though, but even if that is the case, if he doesn't see out the trip it won't matter, I'm glad he's in it as it would be a bland enough Arc without him.

I really liked that Irish Champion Stakes this year,it was run at a good clip and they ran right to the line,if Seamie can just wait it out he'll get home on this ground today,I'm going to have a saver on Snow Fairy.
Huge huge day in the career of Seamie.
