Jammy how?

Drawn against probably the best team from the 7 possibles, and one who beat Meath comprehensively LTO

Thought teams that met already couldnt meet again??...judging by the crowd in Navan last night meath & kildare will be jammers..

any idea of a venue for Cork/Down if that happens?

Newbridge?
Port Laois?

Navan would surely be too far north.

What way are the QF's drawn? I'm presuming the 4 provincial champions will be in one pot and the 4 qualifiers in another, but will it be possible for provincial finalists to meet again in the QF's, or will they be kept apart?
Report throughother July 10, 2011 10:25 PM BST

any chance round 4 double header in croke park.for example down/cork and winners of meath/kildare v ulster final losers.

or do all round 4 games stay out of croker?
not looking forward to portlaois or navan especially.
Report thefly10 July 16, 2011 1:19 PM BST
@ Market Wizard2,

I would say double headers would be ideal, I would imagine if there was double headers organised they would have to be in Croker, you would have supporters from four different counties. The only other grounds maybe capable would be Portlaoise or Clones.

Another feast of sport weekend, I would only love to plank my arse infront of the t.v. instead I am going to Pairc Tailteann for the sons sake. Meath will have to be fast out of the blocks and take every scoring opportunity. If we are ahead at half time who knows? Kildares superior fitness might not be a big factor in a congested pitch like Pairc Tailteann ..I expect the game to be in the melting pot in the last 10 minutes.

Of the remaining qualifier games .. Limerick v Waterford. I don't think there will be much between the two sides. Limerick may just shade it, with quality forwards like Ian Ryan and Ger Collins they should win. We will learn more about Waterford. Munster football is strong. Best bet: Limerick 1.5 goals or more. They scored 6 goals in their two championship games this year, 3 v. Kerry and 3 v. Offaly, surely they will get goal-den opportunities tonight. 15/8 with PP to score over 1.5 goals.

Wicklow v Armagh. Armagh are 'twice bitten twice shy'. Aughrim has been a tricky stop for many a team in the qualifiers but I expect Armagh to pull through. Wicklow may have missed the boat and if the Armagh management look back on their last two games ..their defence has been filtering goals, if they play an extra man in defence or tighten up they can win. I would love to see Mickos side win but the influential James Stafford will be a big loss in the centre of the park. Best bet: Armagh -3 at 11/10.

Antrim v Down. This is 'd' potential banana slip of the round. The qualifier draw has been kind to the Saffrons with already playing two qualifiers at home. Down are known to improve as the summer progresses, they have not been overly impressive but are winning. They have forwards that are capable of destroying any defence. Antrim will relish their chances and I think they can win. Home advantage is a huge favour for Antrim and I expect only a kick of a ball between them. Both sides know each other inside out. Best bet: Antrim to win, too big for me at 4/1.

benny boy, are you going to disagree with me and say Munster football isn't strong?

Great day out in Navan, unfortunately for me Meath were beaten but the performace the players gave is something to build for next year. I thought we had the match in the palm of our hand but we could not get that score to take the lead. Kildares superior fitness and composure won the game - and of course the old saying 'goals wins matches', Armagh and Down too. A lot of folk complaining about the ref but I thought he did a great job letting the game flow. How and ever its the end of the road for us, the very best of luck to the Lilly white brigade, you deserve silverware.

cork and kerry are strong, thats it. Munster football is uncompetitive, dull and highly predictable. i certainly wouldnt class Limerick as strong

All-Ireland SFC Round 4 Qualifier
Wexford v Limerick, Portlaoise, 7pm
Cork v Down, Croke Park, 6pm

Will be interesting to see what way the bookies put them. I'm liking Tyrone to make the All Ireland final, Beat Armagh at home, they play Roscommon in the quarter final. Down and Cork at headquarters on TV.

All these matches continue to go the way of the punters with favs winning everywhere......couple of shocks due for sure and imho while Kildare are an ok side certainly should beat Derry but 1/4 shots hardly also Tyrone an ageing side and against Armagh could go anyway.....Down have not been as good as last year yet in this campaign and wont beat Cork imho....when Limerick see the colour of Wexford's jersey they will relish having a right go knowing they can beat these as its not Kerry or Cork ,this could be the banana skin for accas etc.
Report tobywong. July 19, 2011 12:49 AM BST
agree jay , limerick could be a banana skin for us in portlaoise , in croker we beat them handy , if we get thru we will beat mayo/donegal , i would like us to meet kerry , it would be good for our progression going forward, i think we will beat dublin in leinster in the next few years.

Do wexford def get mayo in the next round if they win there respective matches toby? I taught it was an open draw.

Limerick a very tricky tie for wexford, but it will be a disappointment if they dont win. Wexford in better form now than during league campaign. Would also fancy wexford against Mayo or Donegal.

Limerick will be the tricky one for wexford but if they win well and get their confidence id fancy them to beat mayo or donegal too.

Are ye been serious lads? Anyone that knows their GAA knows that League and Championship are two different ball games! Have to laugh at comparing the two :) Mayo beat thee All Ireland champions Cork in the league this year. Would you think they would beat them in the Championship? Certainly not, they wouldn't even be there at the latter end.

Wexford v Limerick - I agree Wexford played very well against Dublin, they played some nice football. Alot of lads put it down to a poor Dublin performance but I think it was a very good Wexford side they were playing. If you can match Dublin in Croke Park you can play any side. They rely alot on Brosnan and Lyng, two very good forwards. Alot of people forget too that they are the U21 Leinster football champions. Jason Ryan has adapted a very good defensive system. Limerick will be up for this, they have some nice forwards but the loss of big John Galvin and the hurling lads could be evident on Saturday evening. Wexford by 3pts or more. Does anyone agree with me that Mattie Forde is still well fit to be playing, would be an almighty influential substitute to introduce?
Report el gato July 19, 2011 6:31 PM BST
Cork and Kerry are operating at a different level to the rest.Cork, Wexford, Kildare and Tyrone to make it thru the qualifiers. Semi Finalists Cork Kerry Kildare and Wexford.

His back is very bad. I think wexford play better as a team without him. Wexford didnt get the credit they deserved for putting it up to dublin. Wexford didnt let dublin play its as simple as that. David murpht is a doubt for sat, i seen him last saturday he could barely walk. I agree leaugue form counts for absolutely nothing.

Big loss. I do not know why inter county players play for club whilst their county is still in the championship! I suppose it is not their fault, its the county boards that organise these club games!! Massive problem for dual counties/ dual players.

Mattie banjaxed im afraid.....perversely Wexford playing better without him. Still love to see playing tho, there havent been many better forwards in last 10 years.
