Plenty more small hospitals will shut as we eventually succumb to the giant iceburg in front of the country.

Statement by the Taoiseach on Roscommon Hospital


“During the course of a recorded radio interview yesterday, I stated that I had not made personal commitments regarding local services in advance of the general election.

In fact, when speaking in Roscommon during the election campaign, I
repeated the publicly known commitment, made in good faith by Fine Gael, on the retention of services at Roscommon County Hospital.

Since then, the independent health regulator HIQA has advised that the
provision of accident and emergency services at Roscommon and other smaller hospitals is not safe. The Government cannot ignore this expert advice and, consequently this element of Fine Gael’s commitment is no longer tenable.

I regret any confusion that may have arisen from my comments yesterday. It was never my intention to mislead anyone on this matter.

The Government will proceed with its plans for the reform of the health
service and, in so doing, will prove its commitment to the future of smaller hospitals, including Roscommon.”

Rocket, the thing is Timber has a point. The country is being pillaged by certain individuals who have never or will never work. They offer zero to society and are protected by the tree huggers.

No he has not, it's not the reason the country is in a mess. The people who made a mess of this country are bankers and politicians, to blame the immigrants living off the state is total ignorance. It's so sad that we have so many right wing people in this country at the moment like Timberman who blame minorities because it is easy and most of whom have no voice while we let some of the biggest crooks the world have seen continue to live their very comfortable lifestyle is very sad, these are the people hwo need to brought to justice.

The people who made a mess of this country are the people themselves.

Childfingers i Have no problem with Immigrants , these people want to and are working...most of them are very decent types ... on the other hand Travellers who number over 100,000 at this stage will not work , claim every benefit that there is in the system and are costing this country tens of  millions each year and the still destroy many towns and villages with intimidation..drug dealing..burgularies ...robbing oil tanks etc etc....no one will tackle this nettle ...and when some does it will be too late as per the recent cenusus the average traveller family has risen from 5.8 to 7.1 in the last two censuses...this rate of growth will see over a quarter of a million travellers within the next twenty years...many villages and towns will be abandoned by normal law abiding people..
