Arabella Boy and Lucky Wish stand out but they have only two chase wins between them. 3.05 Limerick,it's a winners of 1 ffs! Sometimes I despair at the standard of journalism in racing.
I've some cheek,it's actually the 3.35. However,to add insult to injury the 4.05 Limerick doesn't improve the standard.REGAL D'ESTRUVAL (nap), who justified considerable support at Tramore last time,he finished 2nd.

I guess I have taken enough slack to say a few things here. Yes, I have made mistakes in the RP but the stuff here remains seriously OTT. The "complete howlers" that I apparently made in today's spotlights are nothing of the sort. Regal Destruval was 10s into half that price at Tramore and finished second, jumping brilliantly. That justified the market support. My point re the two horses in the winners of 1 was that they had plenty of chances to win far more than 1 race each, whereas my selection had not. As it happens, both selections disappointed. I used to post here regularly but, as many people say to me nowadays, it has descended into little more than a platform for people to slag each other off. I have no problem with people criticising me and there can be merit in it, but if they would do it to my face rather than hiding behind an internet forum, I would appreciate that.

It must be hard to not rise to it and come on here to defend yourself, however it is only a select few that keep criticising probably as they are jealous you are making a living out of a sport you love. Sad really

It has turned into a tirade against him imo, it is as if some buy the paper and score every word the man has wrote looking for a mistake to come on here moaning about it.
It is simple, if you don't rate him don't buy the paper, you can get all the form online so you will not have to read anything JW has wrote.

TradeFair, I am aware of the way the Irish National spotlight was badly-phrased on my part. I tipped said horse previously to win the c*ral cup the year before and know who trains him.

Now before you throw the toys out of the pram,I most certainly wasnt slagging you off and actually didnt even realise who wrote the verdict. In fairness it could have been Sweetman,Blake or anybody else for that matter. I just think in general that the standard of journalism in the racing press is poor which was my point moreso than a pop at yourself. I very seldomly post and certainly am on no witchunt and didnt realise the sensitivity of the writer. I'll make sure not to post again on any errors in the Racing Post but i think there's a case here that you may be taking yourself a bit too seriously. Anyhow apologies for any offence.

In fairness Winston and the Writer has been on the end of unfair criticism and slander on here for months, often by people opening multiple accounts. If it was just what you pointed out he would be unlikely to respond.

OK,fair enough. Still,I would have imagined that members of the 'Fourth Estate' would be thicker skinned than Mr Ward seems to be. Unfortunately it looks like I've reopened a can of worms which wasn't my intention.

Johnny Wards summing up of the Limerick Chase was succinct and factually correct unlike the original poster who got the time of the race wrong. TradeFair has a set against that journalist so his poison should be taken with a grain of salt.

I thought a particularly poor Spotlight by JW was his verdict of Harrisson's Cove in Leopardstown Thurday where he suggested it was disconcerting that Joseph O' Brien passed the mount over. The horse was due to carry 8-12 in a handicap. Come on now Joeys weight has been one of the talking poimts og the Flat season so far.
On another point Johnny of you are reading you could really do with toning down the aftertiming when you do the Result Analysis unless the price is particularly relevant (i.e. A horse justifies strong support or alternatively drifts and runs accordingly) . I've noticed that you regularly just say a winner was sent off at too big a price or a beaten fav was too short and go no further. Hindsight is 20:20 but you come across as basically aftertiming which is a waste of copy.

Very good points made by allduckornodinner, but the term justifying strong support is no longer as we once knew it,apparently nowadays horses can get beaten and still justify strong support.I think people would have looked on Mr Ward alot more favourably if he held his hands up and said he made a mistake ,after all everybody make mistakes from time to time.To come out with this line that he has is laughable

You of all people should understand the point about the horse being placed, when you went on the 44 horse losing run you plaintively replied that some of them were placed a fact i acknowledged.

That low attention span kicking in again, when you have only one ally its not enough for you so you quit. Why not reply under one of your other names but remember which one it is.

He did make a mistake,he said a horse justified strong Market support when it blatantly didn't ,only an idiot like wildman could take his side in this argument. At the end of the day it's no big deal, maybe he should have let sleeping dogs lie particularly when he didn't have any defence
