Just having a look through some of their prices and noticed they have the reserves priced at this early stage of the morning. One at 8/1 in one race antother 11/2 and another 9/2.Surely they should not be priced at all until they are declared definate runners. Will customers backing in these races be hit with a Rule 4 if some of these reserves then dont run?

PP and boyles not playing the game for me on these reserves...rules as they stand (subject to correction)

- PP don't price reserves yet the include them for settlement purposes. R4 deductions are offset, so if a 4/1 shot comes out and a 10/1 shot comes in R4 is 15c. If a reserve wins PP keep every penny that they've taken in the win book at prices in the morning which to me is absolutely disgraceful

- Spoils - agreed to change their reserve rule in light of pressure from RP. The rule was as above but now the reserve won't count for settlement purposes unless a price has been offered. Very generous - until you realise they now offer a price for every reserve. No R4 deduction occur where a reserve is a non runner.

If you're backing horses with reserves in the race that you think make a material difference to the price you should bet with the b1llys, badblokes, v1ctorC who do not count the reserves for settlement purposes unless a price has been quoted. None of these offer a price for a reserve until it becomes a confirmed runner.

Its obvious that a rule needs to be established in relation to the reserves in Ireland and adhered to by all firms who choose to provide early prices on Irish Racing. How can it posibly be fair that in one scenario a 4/1 shot is a n/r and you are hit with a R4 yet on the otherhand a 4/1 shot can be introduced into the race mid-afternoon as a reserve and bookmakers dont boost the price you have taken on another runner in the race or pay you out if your horse finishes 2nd to the reserve. Its farcical!!!

On a seperate note another thing that really niggles me about Paddy Power is the way they cut the prices on 3 or 4 runners in a race when a 16/1 or 20/1 shot is declared a n/r.If the said horse is not subject to a Rule 4 then why do they feel the need to rejig the market when it comes out.Pure tight b'stards just is my theory!
