Very pleased to hear you had a great weekend workrider. Every year we're at Epsom for the 2 days and it's a fantastic occasion as you say in your post there.

Highlight of Friday for me (and probably the whole 2 days) was St Nicholas Abbey who put in an absolutely heroic display against a top class filly. The way he came home in that last furlong was truly unbelievable and reminded me of his run in Doncaster when he won the RPT as a 2YO. A fine effort in the saddle too from Ryan Moore as the horse was clearly struggling a bit on the track.

Wonder Of Wonders put in a fantastic display under a fine ride, only to be pipped into 2nd - as her mother was a few years ago. She's a fine athletic looking filly who will no doubt go onto greater things as the season progresses. I'm not the biggest fan of JPM as you know, but he gave the winner there a fine ride, always seeming to pull out a bit more when required.

Saturday brought a deal of sadness early on with the news coming through that Kieren had been denied a ride. All of us have to be careful what we say on here so I'll just comment that I thought the actions of the owner of Native Khan throughout were petty, spiteful and small minded. For sure an agreement had been signed, however provision for damages for every ride not taken was included in the contract - and that should have been compensation enough for Mr Araci. The sight of his spiv lawyer smiling on the TV later in the day also made me feel sick - and I'm so very pleased that their horse didn't get placed.

The race itself was a good one, albeit it reminded me a bit of Sir Percy in 2006 when they finished in a bit of bunch. Full marks to the winner in the Coolmore navy, given a superb ride by a highly talented and charismatic young jockey. Great to see and well done to all.

Sad for you and the Queen workrider - Ryan had a nightmare trip on him and for sure there must be an argument for taking some of these no hopers out of the field. On another day Carlton House would have won.

Treasure Beach I thought ran an absolute blinder and only just failed to win. He's a lovely fellow with a superb attitude. Recital once again looked immature and Pat did as well as he could I thought. Seville was a surprise to me. He's looked a very well balanced colt to date so to see him not really handle the track was surprising. There are better days ahead for both Recital and Seville, two highly talented and beautifully bred individuals.

A grand weekend indeed workrider and I'm pleased you didn't end up in the tower!

I was delighted Fallon was not allowed ride. If he signed a contract he should of had been decent enough to honour it but then again decent and honour are not 2 words you'd use to describe Fallon.

High point for me was St Nick as well, as soon as he hit top gear, there was only going to be one outcome, I'd worry though whether he'd have the instant acceleration to win a stop start paced Arc, although maybe he quickens better out of slower ground. He like WOW didn't really handle the track imo.

Low point was WOW, can't believe she didn't go past, she was climbing a bit, camber caused her problems and i think Fallon said she lost her action at a stage. I think she is a moral at the Curragh and beyond that, I'd love to see her have a cut off the ledger, a big filly like her would be tough to beat getting weight.

I managed to dodge the Recital bullet when I found Fallon wasn't on. Don't know what to do with him now, though I'd guess he'll go for the Eclipse.

WR, done Seville meself, ran like the proverbial pig. What you doin with those yuppy flat types in June! Better off L'Town in december, gettin your gonads froze off you watchin proper NH Racing.

Welcome back Workrider,am going to start with a new rule for you.This is the only rule and its vital, you must go to the parade ring before every race and you cant back or lay a horse until this task is complete.I will have a wager with anyone on here that this rule will yield financial dividends.
Soldieroffortune i could not agree more with you about the Fallon saga.Am astounded that a court could allow someone come into court not to enforce a contract but to just maliciously prevent Fallon riding in the Derby,it was mean spirited and vindictive.I cannot agree with you about Recital,there is no future for this madra.

I really can't believe people are taking Fallon's side on this. Imagine you owned said horse and he promised to ride the horse, how would you feel?? Yet he didn't just promise to, he signed a contract to ride the horse and that he would not ride another horse in a race against him.

Why should people buy horses if they are going to be fu*ked around by jockeys like that?? Yes they where lucky enough to get a brilliant replacement in Murtagh but that is not the point. Has Fallon no integrity?? Well we all know the answer to that don't we!!

Loyalty is a double edged sword,how many jockeys have been replaced by more expierienced ones when it suited.Ever heard of Howard Johnson?

Please explain to me what Howard Johnson has to do with Kieran Fallon signing a CONTRACT to ride a horse and not ride against him in a race and then deciding he didn't want to ride the horse he signed said contract to and decided he would just break the contract?

I hadn't realised he signed a contract, supposin Recital did NK a head and Fallons knowledge of NK aided him in winning on Recital. I presume that is where the owners of Nk are coming from so it might not have been as vindictive an act as it seemed on the surface.

I presume there was some kind of retainer, thats consideration, in light of this I can't believe they even needed an appeal, contract is enforceable.

Did Howard Johnson honour contracts..no...Is Fallon the first jockey to switch to a better horse..again no..
These petty mean spirited individuals have introduced the men with wigs into it and when that happens there is only one winner.It is the lowest of the low to go to court not to enforce a contract but just to prevent a jockey from riding,that is vindictive.

I would have liked to see him ride as well, but I presume the Johnson position is on the basis of a gentlemans agreement, he'd have being paying a lot of compo otherwise.

Fallon shouldn't have signed it if he didn't have the faith in the horse.

It was Fallon having his cake and eating it, he was looking around for better rides in the Derby, supposing Murtagh had been snapped up earlier, the owners would have been left scrambling for a jockey. It seemed an unequal relationship to me. The fact he signed something and probably recieved a few qquid has changed my outlook on it.

I think he probably got what he deserved, but conversely, I always want to see jocks like Fallon involved in the Derby, he may, I stress may, have gotten Recital a little closer as well. I can see why people would look on the actions of the owners as mean spirited though.

It seems he received a retainer of 10,000 but with a penalty clause.Let them impose their penalty but the stopping of Fallon riding was pure vindictiveness and am surprised a court would allow it especially a hurried appeal.

On the facts, I wonder why it needed an appeal tbh, v.strange, do you think that this will be the end of Fallon's association with the Dunlop yard? I like Fallon as a character btw, he just isn't the most prudent fella around. It wouldn't surprise if a lot of this is just down to Fallon being a poor communicator, I've heard him say in interviews, that because of his lack of education as a young man, he can find it hard to talk to these mega rich owner types.

Ed Dunlop or the owners of Native Khan did nothing wrong, they broke no rules, they didn't try and break the contract. They where annoyed and felt aggreeived that Fallon had fu*ked them around so they looked for retrubition, and they went the way they felt best about it. They where well within there right to bring him to court over it and the judge returned the right result

I was only showing that trainers break contracts as well as jockeys.I often here the word loyalty bandied about but that must work both ways.You use the word retribution and thats exactly what it was and as such should have no place in a court of law,remember Fallon won round 1 but lost the appeal.Two other points the speed of justice when it suits the legal profession is astounding,normally its adjournment after adjournment all designed to rack up legal fees and judges taking things on advisement.Also it is a very unequal fight the vast wealth of the plaintives against the relative meagre resources of the defendant and the subsequent threat to penalise Fallon with legal costs.

wildman..i was about a half furlong from the finish in the oaks .. as she past me wow looked to me as if she didn't want to go past...she held her head very high imo another to be wary of ...whats your take on her...?

My take on it is...............just stunned that she didn't win....murtagh must have kept a little and ran strong to the line.....could I also say it was not vintage Fallon imho and be very interesting where he stands with Ballydoyle after the weekend drama's.... at 46 KF is not the jock he once was imho

jay, shes one to shy away from imo...having said that she could be sent on from the front and not get into a battle ...i belive she has bags of talent , but will she use it....?

Terrible to have you back Wonky.  I sadly agreed with Wildclown and layed Recital. 
Fallon is well past it.  He looks a shadow of his former self in the saddle.  He doesnt look powerful in the saddle anymore.  He looks rigid and doesnt seem to be able to give them a drive anymore.

Wonder of Wonders definitely thought about it but Ballydoyle lost The Oaks by not using their outsiders as pacemakers,an incredible decision.Murtagh crawled at the start and dictated the pace throughout in a quite brilliant ride,nothing was going to come from behind off that pace.
To sum up i take on board Workriders view that she put her head in the air,throw into the mix the slow early pace and inability of the rest of the field to get involved,we might have a decent lay in the Irish Oaks presuming she is a short price.

I'd say she can put her head in the air, turn it to the side and gaze at the infield all the way up the straight at the Curragh and still win if there is any pace.

Seriously, it is almost definite that she is still improving, she has huge physical scope and given her size Epsom is probably a track to show up all her worst traits, I think she'll win at the Curragh. We say this every year since, but she could easily do a Peeping Fawn on it.

fallon rode a few yesterday and he looked as good as ever?..winning a claimer is harder than a classic at times!!

Wildclown you got one lay right.  Dont be pushing your luck.  As for Wonky observing the horses in the paddock, give me a break.  He's probaly inspecting his piebalds on the side of the Belgard road.

BigWilly will have a winner for the forum this weekend as a thank you for your continued support.  I have had a great run over the past week since i stopped posting selections here but i will post this horse who should have bolted up a few weeks ago but wasnt off a yard, met trouble in running and should have been banned for the effort.

I get plenty wrong as well, am well used to the ups and downs of racing.My lays of Recital actually cost me money in that all my funds were tied up,so i missed two major lays After in The Junction and Hurricane Havoc on The Curragh.I think Bigwillystyle and his followers will enjoy that one,the moral of the story is...dont push all in.

the one mystery of the derby to me was how seville ran so badly.can you offer any excuse sof?..i thought it had a right chance and went in ew accordingly..maybe the draw didnt suit its style of running?the jockey to me was a bit negative also..

What horse in Tipp Wildclown?  Backed Clare Glen in the Curragh and good bet on St Devote each way at 5/1.  Couldnt see him out of the first three.  Wasnt particluarly fancied either.  The Irish team in Macedonia backed him down to 7/4.

An Aiden OBrien trained two year old called After ran in a five furlong maiden on Wednesday.
In the Hurricane Havoc race i compounded my original error by backing Sugar Plum with real money,cash in other words not a figure in the corner of a screen.

I going through a run of betting in cash instead of betting on here.  Was getting too loose.  Much more real when its coming out of the pocket.  Still laying the odd one on here amd punting the odd big price one but not like i was.

I think that is a problem for all on here,it becomes like Monopoly money.My big failing is i am too definite, as pointed out by correctly dj876,leading to risking the lot on something i have an opinion on,it means when you are wrong you do in everything.
