Surely a man and politician of the highest integrity in a business where the trait is in short supply. Surprised to hear of his passing as he appeared to be in reasonably good health when appearing on screen recently.

A decent man , too much so in a business full of chancers .

History will view him kinder than some of his "political" contemporaries did .

And he did his best to repay debts associated with investments by selling his largest asset , viz house .  Unlike some others .

Not sure those in the South appreciated how well he was viewed by the outside world .  Hopefully this week and mature recollection about his life will help bury the old civil war thing completely for once and for all .  Time to move on further although the gallop is harder to sustain in these days of fiscal rectitude for governments ( everywhere , not just Ireland ) .
