3.25 killarney- dolphin bay(19.0)
He ran really well behind jack cool at fairyhouse last time in a hot handicap(39000 for winner). He is trained by john kiely (stable are in form),his very capable jockey - Paddy kennedy claims a valuable 5lb - the only time he has ridden this horse was for its win in a handicap at naas in november.Dolphin bay also boasts strong course form having twice finished placed in killarney last summer.although there are some unexposed types in the race-I think dolphin bay is massively overpriced shud be about 6/1 in my book and at 16/1 with skybet is a cracking ew bet-4places.

What did people make of Fran Berry there on Il Boro?,taking a pull about 3 times in the straight whilst Murtagh was riding like a demon?,not saying he would of won but the horse looked like it wanted to accelerate and he kept checking it.

Scottish boogie cud hav been backed today after its eyecatching run at limerick-came there abs cruising which it was not supposed to - anyway nots the point i want to make.

Could u explain to me how this shrewd gambling stable keeps messing up imo, charles byrnes seems to have em fit even when they are not supposed to win and then hav to resort to the horses how shall i say having to been eyecatchingly "tenderly ridden" ??? Is there someone else calling the shots???

There was the cork bumper incident- laetita coming there cantering behind alpha royale - resulting in  jockey mr.gm purcell was banned for 50 days and laetita for 60 days.
There was the pittoni incident at listowel- flying home again tenderly ridden resulting in bans again.
There was the solwhit incident a couple of years back where the jockey was publicly seen to get the bollocking for winning.
Report punchestown May 15, 2011 5:50 PM BST
Maybe they're getting greedy dj876 and want to win big (laying at much shorter than normal odds) on the days when the horse is being administered the hand brake treatment Laugh, there was also Pittoni's maiden at Punchestown where the jockey looked mortified coming back in after the field basically stopped in front of him in the straight.

Meant to say well done workrider Cool
Report dj876 May 15, 2011 6:09 PM BST
Punch-but in most if not all those cases the horse won next time up,I dunno for such a shrewd stable just can't understand why hav em so fit when it's clearly not a  going day-creating problems for themselves cud be done alot more subtle.
It reminds me of a prominent nh irish owner, whose mo was that the trainer's were only told in the parade ring "not today".
Report punchestown May 15, 2011 6:28 PM BST
All very convoluted alright dj,I hate when there's either a Byrnes or AJM horse in a race that I fancy something else in as you can't even try to work out what's going on in those yards.

Good shout there WR.

A very small crowd turned up for a woeful card at Navan yesterday. Cold and blustery. Kilbeggan was poor too as was Mallow on Friday. A reversal of the good crowds of late.

Race 1) Orchestra Leader (9/1). A little money for this one from 12/1 saw him come from off the pace to readily beat the two market leaders who looked liking fighting it out two down. The jolly  Boris Grigoriev was heavily backed in from 8/11 to two's on. A winner for Lordan here rather than the fruitless trip to Paris to ride the Wachman yoke in the Guineas.

Race 2) Mini Chou (8/1). This one steady in the market came from off the pace to hold off Calm Bay. A handicappers dream. Six Of Hearts (11/2f) backed from 11/1 never could get to the pace of the race staying on late. 5 furlongs has always been on the sharp side for this one.  R A Doyle was riding his first winner from only his second ride and looked strong to me. I reckon he could be a star of the future.

Race 3) Nantucket (4/1) Despite being light in the market the O'Brien colt had run very encourageinly on his debut in a hotter maiden than the jolly had. Young Joseph had him up there all the way and when the hammered on jolly Wakhan (1/3f) came there in the straight he threw his head in the air and said no way hose. Plenty of these Aga horses seem to have temperment problems imo.

Race 4) Casbah Rock (6/4f) A very likeable all the way success for the very familiar Jones/Lyons/ Murtagh combo. He battled on well when challenged having been hammered in from 3/1

Race 5) Haziyna (3/1) Ben Curtis came from mid div to absolutely trounce this field of fillies to blow her handicap out of the ground. 10 lb + I reckon. Crystal Morning (7/4f) backed in from 7/2 never ever promised for the Harrington/Berry team.

Race 6) Late Debate (20/1). Niall McCullagh is having a season to remember as he surprised connections  (Bolger) by getting this rank outsider up for a very easy win coming from mid div to beat the hammered O'Brien's Fairylike (12/1 to 7/2) who flew home suggesting 12 furlongs is her trip. Black Belt (3/1f) never featured for the unusual combo Collins/Smullen pair.

Race 7) Royal Blue Star (7/4f) The Berry/Harrington team made up for earlier disappointment with this all the way success from the second jolly Dubai Team with Murtagh on board which would have made it sweeter for Fran. It was a comprehensive success. Punters went home happy this one being backed in from 3/1.
