Classic time again lads. A few Oirish chances this weekend as per usual.
The media would have you believe the 2000G prize has already been presented, but I`m happy to take on Frankel. The shortest English Classic favourite I`ve seen.
I`m still quite ill after the loss of my ap wager on ex Weld horse Dubai Prince because I really fancied it to make the frame but I`ve still got a Pathfork bet at 12s to go to war with. Patriotism aside he looked a very strtaightforward and classy animal last season and he ticks a lot of boxes for me. I expect him to run very well.
I don`t see Ro`C turning around the Dewhurst form tbh but APo`B knows a little more about winning this race than Harrington or even Cecil for that matter!
Ex Halford 2yo Casamento has been rerouted from the Dante and even though I think he has a big future I expect he
will need further in time.
As for the 1000G it`s not inconceivable that Jessica and Fran Berry could have a double with Laughing Lashes.
O`Briens best chance is dual Gr 1 winner Misty for Me but there`s not much support for her thus far and his record is not nearly as good in the Sunday race.
Thoughts, or knowledge would be even better?

The draw will be a significant factor , i would not want frankel up the centre of the track racing on his own, did not look happy in the dewhurst seemed to want to hang right? Roderick o' connor ran a cracker in that race and should place but with pathfolk and Casamento in the field frankel will have a lot more to think about?

I suppose we`ll know more about the draw in a couple of hours but the field is likely to be one of the smallest I remember too. Always preferable when they go up the middle. I would never like to see a repeat of the 2002 race. That`s definitely how to get a good thing beaten!

Agree with you about Frankel,i think the small field is a negative he might not settle,there is also a chance that even he was to run his race one of the others can have improved and beat him on merit.

It`s probably folly taking on a horse as potentially as good as Frankel but I don`t think his Greenham run was an improvement on last season which he made need to beat one or two of these imo. He`s drawn 1 near Ro`C so assuming the stalls will be in the centre he wont have far to drift to find the rail. Then you have Pathfork and Casamento on the stands side. I hope the congregate up the middle for the races sake. |

The record of Guineas' fav - on the back of steller 2 y/o seasons - the following May is less than stellar.

Mick Halfords RP trophy winner Casamento is coming in for a some support. And rightly so. Very good animal. I have a little on at 20`s. 2 bets to beat the superstar.

I am very disappointed that this super colt Frankel has not been given due praise on this thread....hail the hero FRANKEL...hail the living legend HENRY CECIL....hail irishjockey TOM QUEALLY...what a performance...cracked out got on with it skated home....if this had been a ballydoyle horse SOF and others would have been on singing the praises of AP O B.....what a way to win your Classic..Superstar..and the living legend Henry told us all though the press "I have him where I want him"no listen lads or we hope he will run a nice race Hail the new Superstar.....

Massive performance from frankel,and his likeable connections,fascinating to see where he will go next will it be the dante and derby route or stick to a mile at royal ascot ??I wud imagine the only chance we have of seeing him race in ireland might be the champion stakes in sept,i suppose coolmore will be satisfied with the galileo factor.

Very strange race. It was like a solo run. He must have been at least 10l clear at one stage!
It`s hard to crab a performance like that but I still can`t get away from the fact that a 100 rated listed class horse was 2nd and Native Khan definitely needs further. The others were abysmal for whatever reason (999/1 Slim Shadey was 4th!). He has extraordinary ability but he`s not the perfect racehorse by any means. FWIW, I think Cecil is nuts if he runs him in the Dante on Thursday week. |

HR Cecil is most certainly not NUTS...A living LEGEND, yes..Giant was there really a second in this race??did anyone see how far back Pathfork was and being driven hard by Fran..half a mile back, and Casamento back there too.....This race was won after just 2furlongs and Simon on CH4 said he was ten clear....and a fantastic commentary by Simon he did justice to the new SUPERSTAR......my only regret is that I didn't go over to see it
......maybe WORKRIDER stayed on to witness this great great performance... |

Nobodies doubting his legendary status JTOTDL, but running it 3 times in 26 days would be totally nonsensical.

hello jaytrump .. that was a superb performance today from a wonderful horse.. i must admit i did question weather he would prove as good a 3yo as he was a 2yo...he has impressed me immensely so far ...he has answered every question that has been asked of him ..a true champion in the making ...i hope henry sticks to mile races with him now ....maybe he might come over for our gns....then again henry just might hold him back for the st james palace stakes at royal ascot... no need to let him run over futher just yet ..delighted for henry a true gent ...

I even backed the only horse to trade at odds on against him. Nathaniel on debut. However. there`s no harm debating his merits or the fact that most of the field did not run to form. |

Frankel either goes for the derby or st james's at royal ascot,u wud imagine he will stick to a mile (gone out to ten on here for epsom),world domination will run in the dante on thurs week,anyone know anything about seville?trained on?likely to have a prep run for epsom???

I have been looking at epsom derby betting,it's 19s bar first 4
FRANKEL -looks certain to stick to a mile and go for st .james's palace (avail @ 17 for epsom) WORLD DOMINATION(6.2)and CARLTON HOUSE(7.2)are unbelievably short in the betting for the form they have achieved,they have both only won maidens all be it impressive and imo are priced up cos of their connections,these 2 are expected to meet thursday day week in the dante. I really liked seville as a 2 yo ,anyone know how he has trained on or likely to run in a derby trial??? |

So Frankel goes to Royal Ascot.
No Dante or Derby which on running style makes perfect sense to me. More worrying is the fact that he joins a trend of Newmarket Guineas winners who don`t turn up at the Curragh 3 weeks later. Since Island Sands in 1999, only 4 have attempted the double and only one of them was not trained by APoB. Cecil himself has had only 4 runners here since 2000! All the Aussies who tuned in on Monday to see SYT must have squirmed when they saw the state of the infield at the Curragh! "Where have they sent our superstar to race"? One Celtic tiger later and our racecourse stadia and facilities are nothing short of embarrassing. So much money washed around the sport herein the last decade and what do we have to show for it? The best facility is at the only major course without a lengthy racing calendar or extensive graded programme. Galway! I give you Ireland. Be proud. |
