This is still a woman who has a law stating that no member of her family will ever be allowed to marry a catholic and that family were responsible for millions of deaths and generations of struggle on these shores, her army murdering many and inclduing 12 year old girls walking to catholic mass with no justice. Yet the people who are uncomfortable with it are further demonised by there own people. How on earth did the Irish people get a sterotype of being thick ?

Wildman... Considering the state of the countrys finances would it not be fair to suggest somebody in high position has been thick and perhaps the people who voted them in are a bit thick ? More a realist perspective than solely a Nationalist one. Then again to quote a line in a recent Irish film " The onlt thing that has changed here is the colour of the flag"... Was Ireland ever actually run by Irish people from the top and did it ever really have the respect of other nations knowing how it hung out quarter of its people to dry. 'Fackin thick paddys!!'

Report zipifried April 12, 2011 4:31 PM BST
That's it in a nutshell wildman, the Queen being the head figure of one main branch of this poiltical elite that caused this mess. Unfortunately this religion angle her family set up in this country  distracts people away from that reality and anybody in opposition to her must be sectarian or the likes if they happen to be Irish.
Report workrider April 12, 2011 8:49 PM BST
i dont think she wrote that law zipifried, she like our mary mc aleese is but a figure head ...very unfair comment imo...its like saying all irishmen are i.r.a sympathizers ..  a very sweeping statement from you...
Report zipifried April 13, 2011 12:17 PM BST
Workrider...Rules governing royal marriages and the succession to the throne of the UK breach the European Convention on Human Rights. Why can she get away with this when other countries would be lambasted by Britain itself for doing so. She is not our ruler but through continually refusing to comply with human rights laws she is a criminal and should not be allowed to get away with it or deny it.
Report workrider April 13, 2011 12:22 PM BST
i really dont want to get involved zipified ...but just remind me the last time she or any of her family signed an order for british troops to go to war ...
Report zipifried April 13, 2011 12:29 PM BST
Her majestys troops colluded in namy recent attrocities in Ireland and never with any justice. If you or i breached human right slaws we would be imprisoned. This trip will cost 22 million euros to the Irish tax payer. If she is only a figurehead like you say then the message is it's ok for her and Britain to do what they want and go by their own rules and not for us but you can all pay to see her even though you are flat broke because her bankers fooled your ass... ' fackin thick paddies '
Report workrider April 13, 2011 12:39 PM BST

Report zipifried April 13, 2011 12:51 PM BST
Workraider it is you who mentioned signing forms to go to war not me. The royals created a hell hole in the north that ruined generation sof lives to this day, needlessly and without any justice. It may suit the southern Irish to ignore this but it hasn't gone away you know. Wars happen for good reasons is a reality also. If you don't understand that the ' fackin thick paddies' is an expression used by the British as they committed these subtle and not so subtle wrong deeds on this country, well then you just proved the point of the expression.

Ireland should not so easily forget its ancestors right to justice, freedom of expression and struggle for equality. How many of the Irish people who welcome her understand that the queen is flouting the call to stop absuing Human rights laws everybody else in Europe has to strictly abide by.
Report workrider April 13, 2011 4:27 PM BST
i realize that you might have misunderstood my question so i'll ask it again....please tell me when you think the queen of england signed the order for her troops to fight in this country ...the sooner the better we realize that its time for change ...to many lives have been lost on both sides ..its time  to forgive and forget and move on ...
Report zipifried April 13, 2011 5:26 PM BST
I am pretty sure the history books suggest her family had a lot to do with war in this country. Moving on is great but not ralistic when one half continue to abuse human rights that offend a lot of people here and elsewhere. Where is the democracy in that? There are still some serious lose ends to clear up before she can visit and for everybody to realistically move on. It all reeks of Ireland giving up further on its own history and dignity of the people who died in famine and war. When we are all dead and gone that fact will remain and won't benefit the countrys reputation in the future. The queen as a figurehead as you put it represents this double standard and disrespect her family have always shown this country. It is such a simple thing to change the human rights law and for British media to cover her army and police force deeds in full so as to eradicate the sterotype built up on ordainary people in the north who did not stand for the breach of human and civil rights in ireland and more recently in the north of Ireland. Then people will move on on that particular element. Meanwhile this unleected figure of state 'unlike obama' will cost a fortune in security even though as you say everybody welcomes her. Ireland will lose further respect abroad for this.

ok insideinfo tell me what is wrong with what i suggest , you never actually give any points.

1. Getting rid of Orange order marches through areas they are not welcome would aid the peace process graetly
2. The media reporting the conflict as a relgious one is harmful and false.
3. Reporting motives of groups without any clarifcation is bad reporting.
4. Irish people have a stereotype of being thick
5. Northern Irish people are sterotyped as terrorists if they challenge unfair laws.
6. Paying to see Shamrock rovers is extremely childish and moronic action.
7. Human right laws should be for everybody.
9. Discriminating against sections of society in part of your constitution is bigoted.
10. Forgiveness only comes when somebody is genuinely sorry and expresses it.
11. Peace will only come when equality is complete.

zipifried , i've just spent the last few hours with a friend who's girlfriend was found dead at 5 pm...now in my mind thats a real issue ...you say forgiveness only comes when somebody is genuinely sorry and expresses it ...my friend i seen a youngman forgive his girlfriend for what she did to him by taking her own life a few hours ago...its something i never want to see again ..so stay on your hobby horse till we're all dead ..maybe then you might forgive us...

Worky i'm sorry to hear that worky but don't think it is really relevant. My 2nd mum was stabbed to death on mothers day by her son who also stabbed his bro, have had 2 good friends die in mysterious circumstances and my closest relative murdered , all very young. Life goes on and while it does we must try and make it a better place and a fair place so people don't feel the need and desperation to do themselves in. As the dalai lama said today in his visit to Ireland ( that cost nothing in security) We can forgive but that does not mean we forget , forgivness is to let the anger go. As we get older we can but the new generations will always fight and kill if certain things don't change, that is just realistic.
