I've been there and I promised a report.
I met Graham, it's located above the VC betting office in Mayor Sq (Luas right to the door) you've to go through the betting shop which itself resembles an office block foyer more than a betting shop. Not many trading today when I was there but then again the Flat season not yet really up and running and it's a Monday too - hard to really judge it. Graham intimated he's happy enough at how it's going. The main room has about 10 to a dozen screens. I felt the place needed, I dont know, but it needed just something to it I felt to make it just a bit better.
A fibre-optic web connection making it ultra fast is the main attraction, many times better then your own home connection. He can do cash accounts or you can use your own Betfair account I'm told and every user has his own SIS screen too.
Charges are €40 per day and weekly rates are negotiable. The big attraction is the fast link to the web and Betfair.
If you knew what you were doing and willing to risk a certain volume or deal in percentages, well there's bobs to be made - it's just you'd need to know just what you're doing.
He's open from start of racing until the racing ends as far as I gather.  Patrons have tea/coffee making facilities there.

Did u make money for the day?Surely the ir players at the racecourse have all the ir money mopped up?no chance at all on atr meetings on sis?

It is more to do with the live pictures than the fast connection,race tracks are renting out rooms(used to be corporate boxes in some cases)to punters,the pictures they are watching are live(1.8secs ahead of ruk meets on sis and over 4 secs ahead of atr meets on sis),so altho the pictures u watch in trading rooms(sis)are well ahead of pictures ud get at home,they are behind the track boys.

In my experience even the mobile broadband (that stick thingy) is very fast at central places like Leopardstown.
Gruss was updating between 500 and 700 m/s I think from memory which is relatively slow compared to home but all Irish meetings go through SIS so it still works out that youve buckets of time even with a lesser connection.
You can also bet after the race has finished due to BF not suspending until ATR are fairly close to the line, they have no problem going in-play at the proper time though. Anyone that has been to Leop and knows the stewards box, the market only suspends when they roughly get to there.

U cant bring laptops onto the course unless ur an oncourse bookie?Doyler do u do this at many irish tracks?must be like shelling peas if ur not greedy?

Two of us stood in line with the finishing line at Leop a few times last season and no one bothered us at all, its just awkward holding them/resting them somewhere, seeing whats going on and clicking etc. Much rather a desk!
It was fairly easy alright on the flat (if you know what youre doing), I prefer betting on other sports nowadays though.

The English tracks are cooked but there doesnt seem to be a big amount of Irish track players around yet, I know about the room of players at Dundalk but havent had a bet there for 1yr+.

Why didnt u try a few other tracks if easy money?not being odd,just interested

Well I dont drive so thats probably the main reason but been to Navan too - which was fierce awkward because no big screen plus the home straight is so hard to see from the stands, especially the more to the left you are in the stands, that put me off the smaller meetings a fair bit. When theres no big screen you probably need two people, one to use bino's one to control the market and there has to be serious trust.
I can make enough money from home now on cricket, boxing and GAA without having to spend lots+lots of hours on research so just get on with that.
Flat season is only starting now so wouldnt rule out doing it again this season, no real interest in national hunt bar the obvious Cheltenham/Punchestown.

I agree with an earlier poster with there being somethnig missing with the IFSC room. It is the buzz. For example I used to go into the one in Shannon and 90% of the people in there would engage with you. It was nearly worth going there to have your card marked even if you never traded a shilling. There was a couple of guys in there with earphones on and doing there own thing and that was fine but most of us in there knew each other and it helped. you could always bang on the earphones if you wanted to do your own thing.
The bototm line is that the naked SIS feed is too far ahead of the processed feed. That is whst killed Shannon. It was impossible to make noney on English racing unless you were trading before or early in a race. The time differential was too much.
There is still small money to be made in Ireland as the compulsives in the UK play on races where we are ahead but it is small beans.

so you're saying you have absolutely no talent what so ever.
if you can read a race sis and turf TV pics are perfectly fine'but you probably want to lay
fallers when the jockey is rolling around on the ground.

ching tbf if ur paying to watch coverage u at least want to be at a level playing field,if paying to be there u shud be able to trade up to the line and not just early in a race.imo these trading offices are falsely advertising to have faster pics,when ur secs behind people at the track,i guarantee thats not explained to new cust. either.

if you're playing on the uk races then the pics provided will be as fast as you can get in ireland,
bar you can encrypt the racetech raw feed through your own satellite dish.Plus your payment aslo includes the fast internet connection.

plus the use of a PC and free gruss subscription(not much admittedly)

the patrons that didn't put on the  earphones during races would have been better off the the pub punting,i'd hazard a guess and say these guys went bust and thus shannon closed.
