Had a bet each way antepost( Saturday week before cheltenham) on Maljimar for the Cross Country  chase in Cheltenham. I thought the each way terms were 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4 . Maljimar finished 4th, there was 15 runners on the day.  I went in to collect it today and they are telling me it was a losing bet. Can anyone confirm the each way terms for this race.

This bet was with Bruce Betting.

If it stated 1,2,3,4 when you placed the bet you should get returns. Antepost was probably 1,2,3 though.

E/w terms might well have been 4 places but cant remember, only 16 went to post last year, could be dodgy.
Report Newmanix April 5, 2011 7:15 AM BST
They are right.  You picked a selection in that race.  If for arguements sake only 4 horses were left in would you expect to get paid 4 places?
Report superdub April 5, 2011 9:30 AM BST
I think you should get paid the cross country race was a handicap and bookmakers would have been offering 1 2 3 4 EW antepost all in run or not

Agree with superdub,i laid Majlimar for a place on here and lost my money.

Newmanix thats the chance that the bookies take on an antepost market and its priced accordingly, if the antepost bet was 4 places then they must pay out. thats the crux of the problem, what was the antepost bet.

newmanix my mate had this issue with a bet, he had an antepost bet e/w 1,2,3 race cut up to 7 runners and they still paid up albeit after a fight.

If i'm ever doing an e/w antepost bet I always write the place terms on the docket.

If you don't know for a fact that the terms were 4 place when you did the bet you haven't a leg to stand on.

If the terms antepost were 1,2,3,4 and my selection finished fourth yes I would expect to get paid Newmanix unless the bookies had some rule regarding number of runners against it. Why shouldn't I?

I got paid for the place on Youmazin in the KG when he finished 3rd of six.

Sorry my Q should have been did anyone back Maljimar ew with Bruces and get paid cos I can't remember the terms(silly mistake)

BJG was that with Bruces by any chance. I understand ew terms aren't all the same with every bookie.
Report BJG April 5, 2011 5:06 PM BST
No, was nt with Bruces so dont know on that count
Report sinndar001 April 5, 2011 5:07 PM BST

Some firms must have only been 1st 3 lookin at that imo sinn
Report sinndar001 April 5, 2011 5:12 PM BST
Ah I would understand firms only being 123 on that race. Shur we'll see.
Report wildmanfromborneo April 5, 2011 5:53 PM BST
Sindar it was a handicap you are entitled to be paid.
Report Rowley Mile April 6, 2011 12:56 AM BST
Some firms in recent years espcially pp have put up dodgy e/w (ap+nrnb)terms particularly in races like the king george(flat) where they quote 10 runners and quote 1/4 1st and 2nd where the dead 8+ don't turn up on the day. Unfortunately, you are probably fighting a losing battle with bruce, more chance of getting money off them on the steps of a courthouse for having a picture of you behind their counter.

Rang Head Office today and they said I should have got paid. All I have to do is go into the shop and tell them to ring Head Office and I'll get paid. I wonder would some people bother following it up. Ah well I get paid anyway.

well done sinndar .glad someone is getting something back from those money grabbers...
Report sinndar001 April 16, 2011 2:12 PM BST
ty workrider. I'd just worry they're trying to pull a fast one. I had to fight for the Youmazin bet but I was certain of the ew terms that time.
Report workrider April 16, 2011 2:14 PM BST
it makes you wonder though how much is lying around in unclaimed bets...well done again ..
Report sinndar001 April 16, 2011 2:21 PM BST
In my local betting office I often hear lads not getting paid on winners because the docket went thru the computer too late. One thing I've never heard is the money handed back on a loser cos the bet was too late.
Report workrider April 16, 2011 2:38 PM BST
i'd say thats happening all over the country sinndar.
Report sinndar001 April 16, 2011 2:45 PM BST
I'd well believe it.
