Be better if they focussed on that young lad hunted down in inchicore last sat night or that bloke beaten to death in ballymun paddys night....more thought of a hares life than a humans in this country!!
Report blacknomilk March 22, 2011 6:04 PM GMT
Exactly.....the same shower wouldn't know the first thing about an animal or participated at sport in their lives.

Everything will be extreme and all the townies will be on Joe Duffy tomorrow NAP!

Report BJG March 22, 2011 6:33 PM GMT
If they dont like coursing or hunting then dont go coursing or hunting ffs -reckon that would be a good solution for them

1.001 some of them protesters have been to more coursing than 99.9% of the country with their little banners

Another 1 sided - everything dies, everything gets hurt, its all so very cruel, must be banned story comin up tonight Cry

Report Vasco08 March 22, 2011 8:45 PM GMT
I am not being argumentative, I should have clarified, only people I know that went coursing were from the travelling community or settled travellers.

well your not far wrong Vasco08,  up and down the country pikeys netting in farmers fields with greyhounds catching wild hares for coursing. they are disappering at an alarming rate. coursing should defo be banned.

hunting not tho.
Report timberman March 22, 2011 9:30 PM GMT
coursing is a popular rural pursuit and ive never seen travellers anywhere near it and if they were it would be to rob punters cars or extort money from people....travellers are too busy collecting various social welfare wads at their local post office or organising drug shipments!
Report irish_guy_13 March 22, 2011 9:36 PM GMT
in coursing the greyhounds should be replaced by lets say some unmuzzled pit bull terrier's and the hares replaced by pikeys.
Report timberman March 22, 2011 9:37 PM GMT
Now your talking!!
Report never give up March 22, 2011 9:45 PM GMT

Report irish_guy_13 March 22, 2011 10:16 PM GMT
never give up, were u ever standing in ur own field with 10 pikeys and ten dogs and they're netting hares for coursing. you ring the gardai, no sign. a neighbour had a run in with them one day and had his sheds burnt down. scum.
Report scoobyknows March 22, 2011 10:24 PM GMT
!Laugh! Gardai panicked when they heard 10 men, prob went off sick at the very idea!

I thought the hunting crowd came across well there considering they were mostly talking to Joe Soaps on the fly. The antis will probably make apes of themselves next.

I'm not a big hunting man, but it's been around me since I was a lad. Like the last bird said, a fit fox will almost always get away, a sick or old one will get caught. Charles Darwin would approve. I think every anti should be made sit in a field full of newborn lambs with a fox on the loose and let them see the cruelty that a fox can inflict. They might understand the way things work a bit better after that.

wasnt a bad programme.better than i thought it might be.the anti guy(job 5 days a week!?!?) came across very badly i thought while the bit on hare husbandry was very good.the coursing people talked very well and eloquently on the subject and the vet was good.
Report BJG March 22, 2011 11:15 PM GMT
U are correct sinndar but they are in the minority, in my opinion of course

Was a fair enough programme tbf - just said it as it was

PS John Gormley showing his complete ignorance at the end - where are the green party now john? Cheers
Report paddywhacker1970 March 22, 2011 11:18 PM GMT
Gormless is a clown. I thought that was a good, balanced programme.
Report snap crackle and pop March 22, 2011 11:21 PM GMT
Head of Fire and his friends in Edenderry club probably came across the worst, of all the coursing folk that were interviewed!! No doubt magic md will be along shortly to give us his take on it!! The anti's came across very poor I thought, more intersted in building 3 storey houses for there hamsters and cats!!
Report never give up March 22, 2011 11:27 PM GMT
edenderry should have let them into film.that was the only downside
Report wildmanfromborneo March 22, 2011 11:40 PM GMT
An unusually balanced programme thought the two hunting ladies expressed their views well and all the coursing people likewise.I get the feeling that this programme will actually promote coursing.
Report never give up March 22, 2011 11:48 PM GMT
great to see coursing as what it is....a great sport

I am ivolved with an old hunting and fishing lodge in Connemara.  After a days shooting(woodcock) the birds were displayed on the slab in the bar for the guns to admire and talk about the day over a brandy.  A little girl started crying when she seen the dead birds and I took them to the kitchen straight away.  That was 14 years ago and the birds have never been displayed since.  Even when the guests catch a salmon I am reluctant to leave it on the slab for more than an hour. The sight of dead birds/fish is offensive to a lot of people, but it is the country way and they are in a sporting lodge.  I never use pictures of dead fish for promotion.  I had a bit of trouble with a crazed crusty for a bit, but stamped(literaly) it out.

The only way our beloved sports can avoid these c u n t s is not to rub their noses in it and be a bit more discreet.  Once they start banning a sport the net gets bigger.  Dont give these f u c k e r s an inch.

Report Newmanix March 23, 2011 4:00 PM GMT
spurs. how many deer have you seen? they are all over the place spreading lime disease and eating the native oak saplings.  far too many deer in ireland.
Report paddywhacker1970 March 23, 2011 4:41 PM GMT
Newamix,
I'd say there aren't nearly enough deer in Ireland. While they can cause carnage for the reasons you mention, compared to the rural parts of England, Ireland is all but barren of deer. Personally, I love to see them around the place, as long as they aren't making **** of my fences
Report Newmanix March 23, 2011 5:08 PM GMT
paddy, where there are trees and heather left along mountains there are any amount of them. around me there has been a cull as they were causing car crashes at night during the winter.
