me neither,

FF once a great party, now in a shambles, hopefully they will reorganise instead of SF, labour, FG, being the country future.

I know an old fella who is pure died-in-the-wool FF and told me even if they cut his pension he would vote FF. The type of lad that goes into the ballot box and will always vote FF no matter what

probably was raised on tales of Civil war and stuff like that. Hopefully fellas like him are the exception nowadays

I grew up in a FF house. My Grandda,Dad and now my brother were FF councillors. Never voted FF myself apart from them coz they're family like

Can't ever see me voting for FF at national level. Think I might vote for Gerry here in Louth or some honest independent type chap if there is one

No. The people who believe his story are the stereotypical archetypal thick Irish paddy who refuse to believe that people in power who they side with would ever be involved in any wrongdoing. Even when there is overwhelming evidence of their guilt the Paddy will go into delusion mode trying to rationalise in an attempt to protect their beliefs from the truth. From the rampant child sex abuse of the Catholic Church to the filthy corrupt politicians the thick paddy will stand by them.

After the next election it will be easy to spot which constituencies have the highest amount of thick irish paddies.

I think Fianna Fail will do better than the polls are showing. The typical Fianna Fail voter is lying low, saying nothing, but when polling day comes he will vote down the line Fianna Fail not cracking on to anyone.I thought the only ones who would admit to being Fianna Fail would be members of or their relations but SamuelMorse, who thinks they did no wrong,is made of sterner stuff and is flying back to vote for them....the mind boggles.....
Its that mentality that will get Fianna Fail somewhere in the low twenties percentage wise.
Report db1974 • January 21, 2011 12:35 PM GMT
I reckon FF will lose 1 seat per constituency which would be 43 seats down

They got 77 at the last election so that would give them 34

If people felt that the alternative was a lot better then FF could be wiped out but that won't happen with Enda Kenny at the helm of FG
Report SamuelMorse • January 21, 2011 1:11 PM GMT
the countrys people have to take blame , they are the one's who spent all the money . i laugh when people blame the bankers for giving it to them , as if they are children , they are grown ups , they have to take responsibility for spending the money . simple as that .
Report Giant Strides • January 21, 2011 1:20 PM GMT
The scary thing is that there are many people with the same view as SM who are not admitting to it. FF will only be obliterated in Urban areas.
Report neill d • January 21, 2011 1:29 PM GMT
There is an element of truth in that last post from Morse, freely entered into contracts and all that. As for the OP's question, a not inconsiderable number of people and worse still, very few of them will admit it.
Report Arkle12st7lb • January 21, 2011 1:30 PM GMT
Voting in the 2011 elections is as simple as ABC ....Anyone But Cowen.
Report wildmanfromborneo • January 21, 2011 1:33 PM GMT
Its not as simple as that. The ECB gave our banks cheap money ,armed with this money our banks put in place crazy bonus schemes and recklessly lent money to gamblers and speculators and some ordinary house buyers. When trouble arrived the banks went to their pals in Fianna Fail to transfer their debts to the ordinary taxpayer, they made private debt into sovereign debt and that was the most despicable act ever done in this state. This robbery was compounded by the banks and Fianna Fail combining forces with the builders and gamblers absolving all their debts while actively persuing  the ordinary mortgage holders. How any Fianna Failer can look anyone in the eye is beyond me they should hang their heads in shame.
Report SamuelMorse • January 21, 2011 3:20 PM GMT
people can blame the banks all they want , but the facts are that people have to take SOME ( not all ) responsibility , people seem unwilling to do just that , which is a bit thick .

Older people tend to be more conservative but a ruling elite have pillaged this country, they were lead by our politicians, the legal profession, the judiciary, the top rank civil servants, heads of semi state bodies, quangos and Fianna Fail hangers on.These people have wrecked this country not for me,not for my children, but for my grandchildren and i now have to watch them emigrate, the old scourge of Ireland. There is something wrong when a country cannot support a population of around 4 million.

This is utter drivel. The main problems to date are not in relation to personal debt but the debts clocked up in relation to property speculation. The problems in relation to personal debt are coming down the line in about six months when interest rates rise. The debts that are sinking the Irish economy were created by a cartel of politicans, bankers and developers and so people should be angered at them as they have nationalised their loses. You are a moron

I would welcome the emergence of a Christian Democrat party. One that would restore everything that was good about Old Ireland and eliminate everything that was bad. From a rough headcount of those attending Mass,I believe that there is still enough of the faithful left(in spite of everything) to hold the balance of power.A secular Ireland would be a land not worth living in.

None of these parties are in tune with the global radical changes in the near future, only SF are in anyway in tune with the people who suffer most from the inequalities these narrow minded 'politicians' and their system creates but even they fall short.

Power to the people!!
