[i]Betpack prices out of line BETPACK.COM launched earlier this year in a blaze of bikinis. Designed to give some of the country's best-known family-owned bookmakers a shot at competing against the big boys, we hope, in the interest of competition and choice, that it is reaping a dividend.
But it looks like they need to quickly update their television adverts. As recently as Tuesday night on TV3's Champions League coverage, Betpack advertised their 'guaranteed odds', a feature visitors to betpack.com have not enjoyed for some time.
The website is a 'skin' of Stan James and as such ties itself to the prices and offers featured by the UK bookmaker. But Stan James decided to change tack in November, instead becoming more competitive on morning prices and removing the 'guaranteed' element.
The confusing part is that the shops that carry the Betpack sign on their exterior have gone in another direction. They have decided to retain the guaranteed odds promotion but as a result are not as competitive on morning prices. So the Betpack premises that you stand in this morning could easily have a different price in the shop than it does online. For example, in the 4.30 at Dundalk yesterday, Playdate was 9-1 online and 15-2 in one of the Betpackaffiliated shops. That doesn't add up.[i]
