God knows we need to some good news around these parts, imagine the world's greatest show just a ferry ride or a short spin on a plane away. I think i speak for everybody in Ireland when i say go get em lads and with a bit of luck we will be there watching the boys in green it will the nearest thing to a home game for us. This time tomorrow i hope to be raising a glass to England 2018 with some mates.

If I could ask the forum not to bite, cheers.
Report Rocketfingers December 1, 2010 2:47 PM GMT
Hold on a second Doyler you would rather see Russia get the world cup than a country where some grounds will be 40 minutes by plane away. Imagine if we get the 70%to 80% of the grounds cheering for us. I think you need to grow up Doyler and accept things have moved on and the chip on the shoulder mentality is no longer acceptable in this day and age. It would be a good thing for Ireland in a few different ways, it says how pathetic you are that you think this is a wind up attempt !

Prefiero ir a ver una Copa del Mundo en Espana y Portugal
Report Rocketfingers December 1, 2010 3:04 PM GMT
BJG Spanish is more like a mother tongue to me so i don't agree with the first part, Doyler with his above comments is simply displaying his knuckle dragging antics once more and is more blunt rather than sharp. Typical Irish begrudgery he practises in, Can you imagine the amount of friendly games, teams basing themselves in Ireland and little knock on effects not to mention maybe employment opputunities and having the greatest show so close to Ireland?

Begrudgers pfffff

España que va a perder la mayor parte de sus nombres grandes para entonces, algunos de ellos avanzan durante años - los alemanes que van a sufrir la derrota que pienso

Nos pondremos aunque el euros primero antes de preocupar sobre la copa mundial en 2018
Report SatelliteFlight December 1, 2010 3:10 PM GMT
solo iniciar estas discusiones a causa de la confrontacion, eso es obvio

como es que hago que Inglaterra debe conseguir la Copa del Mundo, pero no me importaria si Espana y Portugal lo tiene cualquiera

I do love it though to be fair, I say dont bite and he says I want Russia to get the WC Laugh
Report Rocketfingers December 1, 2010 4:29 PM GMT
I just don't understand the whole "don't bite", it's not a windup Doyler, Spain and POrtugal have no chance of getting it, meaning it's between England and Russia. Seriously think about it, if an Irish person wants to go to the WC England is our neighbour our best and cheapest option and as it is now most of us have little money nevermind in 8 years time when we probably won't have a cent and you think that i am trying to wind people up for saying "Good luck on Englasnd"?, for your own people it's the best option, for the football fan in Ireland, for the country as a whole it's the best option and its the best option for the sports fan in Ireland as it's an opportuninity to see what is the greatest event in the world so yes i really want Engand to get it and so should you, left your knuckles off the ground Doyler they've been dragging long enough !!
Report squigs December 1, 2010 4:34 PM GMT
Spain and Portugal have no chance?

Far from the truth they are likely to get a high vote in the first round due to their exchange of votes from Qatar and do offer a strong bid.
Report Rocketfingers December 1, 2010 4:37 PM GMT
It's bluff mate they have been promised votes so they are telling the people, it's between Spain and Portugal both countries will have very little money in the run up to this to put into what needs to be done, trust me on that one.
Report db1974 December 1, 2010 4:58 PM GMT
I hope England get it as it would give a lot of Irish the chance to get to see some of the games.

All major events should be divided between several countries for cost sakes.
Imagine Ireland hosting the boxing and equestrian Olympic events.
Report workrider December 1, 2010 7:07 PM GMT

We will see Rocket.

England are going round at the last minute smooching up to the likes of Jack Warner who screwed them over during the 2006 bid process, I think Spain/ Portugal have a strong chance with a lot of the infrastructure already there in terms of transport, stadia and hotel rooms.

Spain Portugal for 2018 and Australia for 2022.

England really have shot themselves in the foot with this bid.
The latest nail in the coffin in the Birmingham derby tonight.
I`d like to see them get it because the memory of a cracking Euro 1996 is still fresh, but I`d be amazed if they get it at this stage.
Report Rocketfingers December 2, 2010 12:06 AM GMT
Votes are in at this stage Giant, deadline has passed, i know a guy in FIFA rang him straight.
Report Giant Strides December 2, 2010 9:32 AM GMT
Didn`t realise that Rf.
Bit strange if the outcome is already known to FIFA that the betting is not suspended. More opportunities to cash in I guess.
I see Australia are 11/2 with PPs to win the 2022 rights. Obviously no chsnce.

I'd be generally quite pro-English - no issues there and doesn't in my view doesn't invalidate my pro-nationalist, republican views. Many of my good friends......etc etc

For that reason I hope they don't get the World Cup and I wish their good citizens a normal gentle English summer with an excellent cricket season keeping the riff-raff and moronic soccerball "fans"Cry away in foreign climes.

In fact I might offer a quick prayer to the heavens to spare our English cousins the trauma, boredom and tattiness of the whole business.

Delighted for the English they avoided the second biggest snoozefest in sport. Happy for the vast majority of their public - the silent majority - who no doubt are secretly thrilled.

Unfortunately they have to contend with the biggest snnozefest in Sport - the Olympics - which hard though it may be to comprehend is actually more boring than the World Cup. What saves it is that it doesn't attract the mindless morons who are drwan to soccerball competitions.

Both non-events would be too much bear on a famously tolerant nation, I for one are happy for them.Grin
