Workrider very hard to make a case for it at present my friend, sometimes i ain't sure what i think but i am heading in your direction, hard to know where it will end. Greece, Ireland, Spain, Portugal and by all accounts Italy all in bits, somethings got to give.

Don't forget these UKIP boys are very much anti Irish. Farage has links with a whole host of right wing Unionists and Tory's
UKIP want all restrict the right of all eu nationals to work in Britain. This would include sending all the Irish back here to Ireland, people who have worked hard and carved out a life over in Britain. UKIP do not have the Irish interest at heart they are looking to exploit our struggles for their gain.
Farage spent by his own admissions £2 million on expenses and allowances while working in Brussels on top of his salary,
He gives out about various Banking excess yet he is was one himself. He is not one to be lecturing on the subject.
He is a skillful orator and with the gift of hindsight everyone is going to make a few good points but he is not someone we as the Irish nation should embrace.
He is a Hypocrite of the highest order.

squiqs , i agree with you on somethings re the ukip . i still think they have the right attitude on europe . surely its time we had a look at our part in europe . we've had 2 lisbon referendums , i wonder why ? the price is to high . why shoulden't the uk have the right to send back irish citizens ? what god given right do we have to live and work there ? before you start talking about all the guys who died in the war . what about all the layabouts who've lived off the english welfare system for years and never contributed a penny . i feel every nation including ourselves should have a say in who or who cant live and work within its borders .

You would struggle to find many to be honest this is a line ran by the far right in England, with the dole 3 times here what it is in Britain why not sit on your arse in Ireland. A lot of our Ancestors went over there at a young age to support people here, the idea of sitting on their arse was never even considered.
The whole ideal of free movement of Labour and goods is the greatest success of the European Union while it can be difficult at times the benefits of this free movement far outweigh the negatives.
The idea behind closed borders is one that should be consigned to history. Its a global market place these days times have moved on.
I say again Farage is a wolf in sheeps clothing and certainly someone who should not be trusted no matter how populist some of his rhetoric is

no sadly i know its true squiqs , lots of irishmen and women were doing it in the 70s . still lets move on . i'm certainly moving to the right politically , political correctness from lefties driving me bonkers tbh . some of these left wing nuts will have us in political straitjackets till we wont be able to think for ourselves . the british labour party is a prime example of this . as mark twain said denial is not just a river in egypt . still each to his own eh ,i know there are many in britain who shall we say , dislike the irish . nationalism was given a bad name by hitler , but overall its a good concept . all depends on your political views .

I have seen no history of UKIP having a dislike of Ireland. They are right wing, they are Euro sceptic in the extreme but to label them as being against Ireland and secular to Britain is lazy stereo typing.

yes WR. Some UK partys have tried to link the to the BNP which is vaguely hilarious.
If there was a UKIP like party in Ireland, i would fancy them to do extremely well at the polls

referred to Ireland as “a country peopled by peasants, priests and pixies”
I can fetch you a number of quotes ranging on 'Jewish Merchant Bankers' 'Barbarians Ruling Europe' and a host of quotes on Blacks, Muslims and gays but its a bit late for a copy and paste.
I would be amazed to see a far right wing party win more then 6-7 seats in this country, I have hope such a party would not be accepted into the political mainstream in Ireland.
They have allied themselves with some strange bed fellows in Europe including amongst others an extreme far right Polish political party the League of Polish Families (LPR), which has links to attacks on gay rights activists, violent skinhead groups and anti- Semitism.
They are the BNP Lite, not quite as openly racist but certainly defined by anti immigration and anti Europe.

sqigs , most countrys in europe are now of the opinion that they have enough immigration . unless i'm mistaken that includes us . most left wing groups or their supporters forget that russia invaded afganistan in the 80s and were beaten back . the same guys and girls attack american planes at shannon , because of americas involvement in afganistan how come those same people never attacked russian planes who fly into shannon all the time and have done since the late 70s ? just wondering my friend .

I don't think immigration is an election issue in Ireland and never really has being, we were absorbing 50,000 people from the former Eastern European states every year during the good times, now that we are experiencing net migration I really don't see what the issue is, we could do with immigration.
Re: extreme left, I don't believe in extreme politics in any form, Politics in its ideal form is about dialogue, reasoned debate trying to find a logical solution for all. Starting out on the extreme left or right it's difficult for either of these sides to bring reasoned debate to the table.
Other countries have an issue, with immigration to be honest but sorry I absolutely hate all this semi-racist bullshit about foreigners 'coming over here and taking our jobs' that we hear from across the water and 'imposing their beliefs on us' mentality. Its a big world out here and I don't see the problem with migrants coming here the majority of were economic migrants and worked in Ireland.
