wanted to start a thread from a betting perspective on the upcoming elections as we'll be seeing a hell of lot of action in the weeks and months ahead and
lets try and profit from the hardship

only one bet available so far on the budget is pp- will the budget get passed 2/7 yes 9/4 no

Could the possible cuts to old age pension bring down government? I know they have started to suggest they may not do it but how can they get away with it in the situation we're in. Even the pensioners were expecting it until last few days and TD's starting to make rumbles to save their seats

Any value in the 9/4?

As for the first big by election
some conflicting prices out there
FF were 4/1, now 5/2 to win Donegal SOuth West
SF are 2/5/1/3. Pearse looks head and shoulders above the rest but Donegal is a backwater place with die hard FF & some FG's.

FG's candidate Barry O Neill looks to have the same charisma and charm as Enda Kenny while Labour never poll well in Donegal and their candidate is a nut job

Pains me to say it but FF has a chance at 5/2.

PS. I'm off the clock Stinger/galwayman so rest easy

AFAIK no sitting government has won a bye-election since 1982

I cannot see a FF TD getting elected here

I don't believe you. Get back to work.

A fair day's work for a fair day's pay.

good thread.

Put all personalities and backwater places aside here is the reason that Fianna Fail cannot win.

When this by electino winds up all the opposition have to say is that to vote for Fianna Fail is to say that all that has gone on until now is OK.
There is not a sane person in Ireland that would say that.

The headline in the Irish times tomorrow or Friday will say that Ireland has entered the Bailout fund.

It's all over for the toiger
