i was just wondering weather anyone noticed if there has been a change in punters attitudes to words certain bookies . do punters feel their money is in safe hands when they hand it over .the reason i asked is simply because of what happened recently at listowel . i know the books i back with regularly ,have always paid out no problem  .

Yeah to be honest I would never think about it my biggest bets would not be on course and while it looks like Dixie Dalton was an accident waiting to happen I don't think this is going to become the norm.

Have not noticed that workrider but i have stopped betting with the on-course bookies. betfair on the iphone is the way forward as even though i am not a big punter i find the odds particularly on outsiders on the track are to say the least skinny.
Maybe after the controversy in listowel i can see the larger bookies on course holding the majority of punters money eg sean graham - even if the odds are never best on track.
Looking forward to sligo races wednesday and thursday followed by the ryder cup weekend.

ok lads fair enough , my worry would be that the good , and there are a few small bookies , could really feel the pinch . i think its important to have a strong ring , now though there will be questions asked of the smaller guys  , lets hope for everyones  sake  the bigger firms dont take over totally.
