Great day. I never liked Tyrone and I like them less now. Sometimes you have to see them in action to realise what they are like. I had forgotten. Good riddance :-)

I think Tyrone lost the match rather than Dublin winning it. Tyrone were probably about one score away from going on to win the match easily. I think Dublin have now as good a chance of any of winning the all ireland this year but thats about the only conclusion you can draw from their quarter final win. To me they got a bit lucky in one game with a team that has not improved over recent years. It would be a good reward for their supporters if they got to the final but overall i see no signs to be optimistic about the future of Dublin footballers.

In each of the quarter finals it was the right result on basis of what the respective teams put into the match .
Kerry folded , possibly made Down look better than they are . Dublin out physicalised Tyrone and won going away . Cork are just a lot better than Roscommon . Kildare took everything Meath threw at them and again won going away .
Dublin improved the most from previous efforts this year . They have a fit and not unskilful set of footballers and will give Cork a good game . Whether they are up to beating the proven best set of footballers left in the Championship remains to be seen , but Cork are capable of underperforming any day of the week , so the Dubs have a chance .
Conditions suited Kildare , as did Meath . Whether they will fare as well against a quick starting Down outfit may depend on underfoot conditions . Given good ground Down may get a good start and be out of sight early , Kildare being desperate starters . Wee James and Geezer are both products of a very clever and talented set of university footballers of their era , and the tactical battle will be interesting .

cork need to produce and fast , not doing it and on the road a long time and the pressure is now immense , the lillies have all the momentum and i think they are gonna take a lot of stopping , geezer is proving to be the man , it would be fantatic to see them do it

Tryone's wides resulted in that Dublin win plus having steveirll's wookword powers for that fluke goal. Its wide open but I believe Down will come out on top.
Also Sean Cavanagh's ego played a massive part in Tyrone's defeat. Because he never got on the score sheet he believed it necessary to shoot from everywhere and was a big factor in defeat. Needs a massive kick up the ass and learn to be a team player and not roy of the rovers

Amazing how so many people see only what they want to see. Sure Tyrone hit wides, they were rattled as they were against Cork last year. Dublin hit some dreadful wides too, not least the goalscorer. Dublin knew better than most that nothing fattens you up for slaughter better than an easy win in your provincial final. Everything was set up sweetly for them but give some credit too. A year before they were totally wiped out by Kerry, and conceded five goals against Meath earlier this summer. They and their manager were being slagged off everywhere, bookies, pundits, TV experts, but they rose above all that and got a major monkey off their backs. They took Louth apart yet amazingly no one saw the Tyrone result coming. Kerry were dead on their feet, and having Paul Galvin about the place was crazy. Tomas O'Shea has sailed close to the wind too many times, great player that he is, and finally paid the price. Most worrying was their lack of back up. Dublin and Cork have very good benches, Tyrone have a deep well of young talent bubbling away, but for the Kingdom the cupboard seems bare. They were a wonderful team though, as were Tyrone. Tyrone need new players and a new gameplan.

I'm from the Big Smoke, Steveirll, grew up with Heffos Army on Hill 16. Anyone got any views on this Aviva Stadium lark? I mean 200m. of taxpayers money gone into it, and then two massive rip offs, Rugby game 68-0, soccer 7-1, what a swindle. Ivor Callely not in the same league as those IRFU and FAI Chiefs who must be laughing their heads off all the way to the bank. Wouldn't Shamock Rovers have given a better account that this Airtricity oufit (ESB must be having a fit of giggles too!) come to think of it Bray Wanderers would probably have done better. But give Damien Richardson one thing - he sure talks a good game. But do those poor mugs, steam jugs, that paid big money to watch that fantasy football really deserve our pity?

Wouldn't write of Kerry for next year Ballhopper, imo, the standard that will be set by whoever wins it this year will hardly be insurmountable for them next year with a full panel and the usual few gems they uncover every few years. Kerry mop up handy all Irelands and next years could well be one

For sure Neill d, don't dismiss Kerry lightly, they are never too far off the pace. But you'd have to say there is only so much recycling of talent you can do. And if there were any gems waiting in the wings, Jack O'Connor couldn't see them and he's nobodys fool. Many of the current stars seem to have lost a yard of pace and you'd wonder is the hunger still there. The days of picking up handy All Irelands are gone. Tyrone could have the same problem but seem to have a lot more in reserve. Mickey Harte has got to be ruthless now. Anyway, who knows? This week last year Dublin were trying to scrape themselves off the floor after the Kerry humiliation. Often what happens next week is hard to predict, let alone next year. Love to see Wateford hurlers do it this year, and you just never know.

Cheers neill d, I'd say Gilroy and co. suddenly realise the opportunity that's there, these chances don't come around too often. Thinking about Tyrone, they need Stephen O'Neill back to his best. People may be a bit hard on Sean Kavanagh, at the end of the day he is a converted midfielder. As regards the hurling the frightening thing is Kilkenny could easily win it without Sheflin. Now imagine Galway without Canning, or indeed Kerry without the Gooch or the Dubs without Bernard Brogan.
