Another thrilling renewal of this famous race. Well done to Mr O Brien in beating two scrubs from his partner in arms mr bolger and some also rans. What a fantastic state of affairs irish racing is in. Whats even better is the fact that these same good people are effectively in charge of the turf club. Wow I am so happy lets make sure breeding is all that matters and to hell with the racing. Every race should be a 2 yr 6f race and any horse should be culled once it reaches 4 because there is significant scientific evidence that horse have matured by 3 years old!!! A fine future ahead i think all that needs doing now is to remove all 4 yr+ races from the calendar (which is pretty much already happened) then johnny owner will realise he needs a new horse and his old clapped out 4 year old is now no good.

Irish flat racing is of little interest to Joe Public and losing even our interest here if the lack of posts/threads are anything to go by on this, the so called "big" weekend of Irish flat racing.

People are tired of the same old, same old.Plain

Coolmore has brought Irish Flat Racing to its knees. The board of HRI is full of their cronies who over the past few years have shaped and steered Irish horse racing to facilitate their every need.

Couldn't help noticing the jackpot pool yesterday didn't even make its guarantee.

It was poor stuff for what was supposed to be the biggest day of the year.

Although, in fairness, there was heavy competition from other sports.

Yes because a five runner Derby of Monterosso, Carraiglawn, Coordinated Cut, Puncher Clynch and Dubawi Phantom would have been MUCH more interesting.

A walk over for STS in York, The Derby and Champion Stakes would have been great viewing too.

H.R.I. cheifs Mr Kavanagh and Mr Brosnan stated IRELAND are world leaders in horse racing and on there biggest day of the season THE DERBY a handicapper goes off favourite,Crythe race won by the usual suspects with a run of the mill horse,Devil(cant see the result having a major impact on the breding industry with SEE THE STARS aroundLaugh),the food village with there fancy pricesSad and the glamorous 2 legged filliesCool get as much coverage on the c.c.tv and 2 big screens than the racing itself. With many U.K. visitors and a lot of other interested people, they could not even show the ENG v GER match on at least 1 of the big screens for the people in the enclosures between races after all it is THE WORLD CUP.
Then they put on a band CRYSTAL SWINGSad (the internet has a lot to answer for)iam now convinced the HORSE RACING is now only the SIDE SHOW in all of this.

It was really a fantastic day down there. Top marks to all concerned. The food Hall was a brilliant idea. No shoving to move around.Bookmakers ring very easy to move about.

It is not Coolmore who you call have Irish racing on it's knees. It is the brilliant Aidan whose training puts every other trainer in the shade. Once upon a time the Irish were lucky to come up with a credible representative. Coolmore were in trouble between the time M V O'B gave up and A P O'B came on board.
If the boys in blue coaxed AP to join them and left him alone to train the horses their decline would be rapidly halted.

Hats off to AP, Curragh racecourse and please God we will have the presence of Her Majesty in 2011.

@soapp: I pressume you are kidding about the her majesty the queen bit!

It would suit all the snobs that attend the Curragh alright, but ffs, she shouldn't be allowed into the country, let alone attend the IRISH Derby.
