it doesn't matter if he is a nice guy or what country he is from, it is an embarrassment that he is not Irish and unlike some of the other foreign lads of past and present he had no real affection for ireland then or now, in fact he loves another country and supports them , that is a real shame for all the Irish players who would have worn shirt with pride. Maybe this is why Ireland has such bad karma trying to qualify.

Either you consider yourself Irish or you don't, and if you don't then you don't play - simple as that.
The whole ridiculousness of the situation is shown by the Boateng brothers though - one plays for Germany & one plays for Ghana.
