Mandela is out of the picture today after his great granddaughter was killed in a car crash last night, it'll be a big blow to the team not having him there.
There are reports of some big rows in the French camp too.
Lay South Africa and lay France double its lookin like for me
Dont rate France whatsoever, were absolutely in shambles last week in a friendly wen they lost 1-0 to China and only drew 1-1 with Tunisia the week before that
South Africa bein the hosts is obviously a big boost for the team but they could nt even qualify for the African Nations Cup this year, they are a poor team and Mexico played very well in their last friendly b4 the WC wen beating Italy 2-1

Mexico are a much better side than SA but tis the opening game and all that, so it will be interesting to see how they react to a very vocal home crowd. No bet game for me.
France are going to have to pull form from somewhere if they are to achieve anything at this world cup...can't see it happening myself. Small back of no goalscorer in that one.

Think the bet of the tournament is Italy at 10/11 to beat Paraguay in their first match. On the outright front, I think Brazil are the team to side with even tho I've backed England and Argy. Brazil look to have everything in the right places and I'm backing them to win and Kaka top goalscorer double too!

I think there is a good chance both games could be end in draws. Especially the Urg/Fra game. Think Mexico might just sneak the first, so...

Don't think there's much value in laying SA, if they nick the first goal maybe via a home town decision they'll be hard to pull back. They can keep out teams. I think their difficulty will be in scoring. Draw no bet Mexico imo.

Have Villa+Fabiano O/R along with a few big priced pokes but Robinho and Van Persie are interesting me for top 4 at 8/1 and 7/2
Any value in the Top4 goalscorer market iyo's??Have Villa+Fabiano O/R along with a few big priced pokes but Robinho and Van Persie are interesting me for top 4 at 8/1 and 7/2
Yeah bet Robinho @ 40/1 and at 11/2 for top Brazil scorer.
Think the value has gone out of RVP now tbh, he was a good bet but to me think the value has been squeezed out.
Always worth throwing a few in at big big odds, someone like Oleg Salenko could pop up again

DOCTORS are fighting to save the life of Paraguay striker Salvador Cabanas after one of Latin America's most prolific goal-scorers was shot in the head at a bar.
The surgeon who operated on the 29-year-old, who had been expected to spearhead Paraguay's attack at the World Cup in June, said the player was critical but stable in a Mexico City hospital.
"We have not removed the bullet, we'd do more damage if we tried to take it out, but where it's lodged it's no longer causing any damage," Dr Ernesto Martinez told reporters.
"We can't be sure he is out of danger ... but his condition is very stable."
That would be a yes imo

I've posted on here before about Nelson Valdez who is a Paraguayan striker
He started 16 of their 18 qualifiers (scoring 5 goals in the process) and to me looks like a guaranteed starter, especially with the injury doubts about Cardozo & the inexperience of Barrios.
He is 1000 to be top scorer so that has to a worth a couple of throwaway quid IMO

yeah and they have to choose between Barrios, Valdez (who always starts seemingly), Santa Ctuz and Cardozo. Barrios did very well in the friendlys leading up to the tourney but he seems doubtful to start, probably be Valdez and Santa Cruz

Urugay at 160s was a good bet. No value now though. If they can manage to top the group they might have a relatively easy run of it. Not a huge IF either.

France are a distinctly average team run by an idiot, with no leaders and divisions in the camp. Anybody backing them or calling them with certainty after their friendly internationals needs sectioning. Won't be a repeat of 2006.

Imagine if Brazil and Spain dont win their groups and won of them comes second
Brazil have possibly the hardest route to the final imo - i stil think they'll get there tho
Possibly Chile(who i av backed to win it, are no mugs) Holland and England to get to the final And could meet Spain in the 2nd round if things dont go to plan

RTE coverage embarrassing so far; Jimmy Magee cheating against a 6 year old kid on Joe Duffy in a quiz and Darragh Moloney coming out with some embarrassing stuff.

For GAA RTE stream to the 32 counties on their website. Not sure about soccer.
Depending where you are in the North you might be able to plug in an aerial? Either analog or DTT. And obviously if you can pay your Sky sub down here you can bring the box up there and just plug it in.

If RTE don't stream to the North, if you know somebody technically competent down here, ask them to set you up an anonymous proxy on their computer so you can make RTE's website think you're streaming from the South. GL.

Mexico trying to play like Real Madrid v Shamrock Rovers. Trying to do the most elaborate skillful thing that comes to mind. Doing nothing in attack simply.

Yes Biodiesel you are very clever. I'm sure you were itching to post when the draw touched 5s and when Mexico were all over them in the first half.

They're playing cautiously but that's their way and their setup, they want to counter attack but they can't string 3 passes together. Huarez was born offside, to quote Alex Ferguson.

Good call on the draws Down but I think Mexico failing to convert and hold on was criminal. Looking at the highlights they should have had 3 or 4.
Onwards and upwards tomorrow.
