It is that their horses can talk . At least thats my observation . The 3/4 Derby hopes ( the English one , which apparently is their biggest target all year despite the track vagaries involved ) who are playing tag at the moment indicate to me --and not for the first time -- that they DONT KNOW which is the best , or which one will carry the flag next Saturday .
Sorry for anyone involved antepost , although I suspect there was plenty of opportunity to lay off , but it is part of the learning process .
Not like the old days , when the MAN knew ( and tried to keep Lester uninformed ).

Was thinking the exact same thing after Jan Vermeer won on Sunday.
Why was he 6/4 and 20s for the Derby. 4 days later he`s favourite!!!??? Clueless. |

On racecourse evidence ( which is the best --maybe the ONLY -- arbiter in my opinion ref Ballydoyle ) Cape Blanco looked very impressive , but apparently is more likely to travel to France .
The other comment I would make is the the use of the words --"unbelievable " , "the best we have seen " , "unreal " , etc , all of which we have heard in recent seasons for a yard ( yards ) which has housed Ballymoss , Sir Ivor , Nijinsky , Appalachee , Alleged , The Minstrel , etc and more recently Hawk Wing , High Chaparral , Galileo , Giants Causeway ,etc . All of these were brilliant middle distance horses in modern times ( although some were unlikely looking to stay more than a mile ) . There is nothing new under the sun , except the apparent need to hype each years crop as better than before . |

Crouching , not doubting the uncontested ability to train winners in all branches of the sport . My observation merely echoes the sentiments of a lot of punters out there who listen to the interviews etc . In my book , forget the hype and trust ONLY what you have seen , not what they are supposed to be doing at home .

They don't run the horses for the general public, they don't run the horses for the Irish people, they don't run the horses for the good of racing, they don't run the horses for punters.
When will people get this? They run the horses for themselves and for stud purposes in future. And they do that better than anyone else to walk the planet. Nothing but complete admiration for them, and listening to all these mugs complaining about them all time is starting to become very grating. |

Of course crouching the stats are impressive but if VOB had his firepower I'd say his list would be an awful lot longer imo of course. What beats me is the multiple entry approach. Jeez its smacks of indecisiveness and a mentality of launching everything at the board and maybe something will stick a bit like a punter backing five or six in a race at long odds on. Surely training horses should bring a more lucid and clearer outlook or maybe I'm missing something here.

Christ allez your very condescending imo. Every trainer and owner runs their horse for their own purpose not just Coolmore. Their self interest was evident when they sold the Phoenix Park and of course when things got tough in the late 80's they had to call on the public, to fund their activities via Classic Thoroughbreds. BTW I'm sure that day will return again. What pisses me off, and others I'm sure, is their voicebox eulogising every creature that comes out of that emporium as if his power of analysis and lucidity and decisiveness has been left in one of the stables he has just vacated.

Only 22 days between Derbys, he wont be fit enough in time for The Curragh, IMO.

Well,your master is quoted in todays RP as saying the vet recommended giving SNA the month of June off, so he must be rated as highly unlikely to reappear there.
However, if Workforce goes for the KG instead, maybe my cynicism might return along with a surprise reappearance. |
