Greyhound-data.com

Is the best site for such advice.
Report ChildOfMine2 March 4, 2010 1:00 PM GMT
Greyhound-data the best. You've got a good start tho with them being by Hondo Black, very good sire!
Report Taoiseach1991 March 4, 2010 2:21 PM GMT
yeah thats the hope b1tch was open class 11 race winner just started training qualified for 400 and 525
Report yourbestmate March 4, 2010 2:25 PM GMT
What is the **es name?

Hondo Black has some very good representatives tonight at Monmore.
Report Taoiseach1991 March 4, 2010 2:29 PM GMT
not sure the owners would be to happy posting the b1tches name dont want the world knowing there buisness. sorry
Report GANT007 March 4, 2010 9:35 PM GMT
400 AND 525 MULLINGAR?
Report yourbestmate March 4, 2010 11:51 PM GMT
You are hardly giving away much by stating the breeding of the dogs. There is no need to mention times etc.
If you go to Greyhoud Data like that you should quite rightly be told to shove off.
Report crouchingtiger1 March 5, 2010 8:04 AM GMT
it struck me that if they owners are letting a fella train these pups who is posting on a betting exchange forum for advice on how to train them that they couldn't give a fcuk one way or t'other!!
Report Taoiseach1991 March 5, 2010 12:38 PM GMT
400 Dlk 525 shelbourne, i rared them and because i have dam all work on at the min i took a hand at training them, its going well so far. Greyhound data doesnt give info like recovery time, expected time frames for likely improvement. thought there might be a few old hands on this could give me abit of advice. no big deal
Report MAESTRO OF SWORDS March 5, 2010 2:02 PM GMT
TRY GREYHOUND FORUM,ID 2 DOGS WELL THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ANYWAY EVEN A TRAINER COULDNT TRAIN THEM
Report crouchingtiger1 March 5, 2010 5:05 PM GMT
ah Taoiseach I'd like to apologise, my comment a bit harsh...thankless job training dogs and damn hard work and plenty slower than fast...good luck with them
Report galway59 March 5, 2010 5:28 PM GMT
I'l give ya a bit of advice feller, get rid of them muts whatever way possible.Ya cant back em ,ya cant sell em and it looks like ya cant even train em.
Report MALAY March 6, 2010 2:57 PM GMT
hondo blacks, in the main, progress late and should stay 575 at least,
Report Taoiseach1991 March 10, 2010 4:21 PM GMT
cheers for the advice malay, had them in a 4dog private trial yesterday round millingar clocked 30.45 supposedly that works out about 29.45 in Shelbourne (according to the fella driving the hare)
Report Jockey Full Of Bourbon March 10, 2010 4:24 PM GMT
he'' ll have taken a note of them for one
Report Taoiseach1991 March 10, 2010 4:25 PM GMT
he couldnt its a private trial, no names given or anything
Report Gone To Slips March 10, 2010 5:54 PM GMT
A 4 dog trial in mullingar is a bit risky for young pups, newbridge a much safer option and try not to rush them keep them fresh and keen improvement will come if it is there.
Best of luck.
Report Taoiseach1991 March 10, 2010 7:38 PM GMT
cheers gone to slips, they are 19 months, just giveing them 1 more private friday before there race track debut mid-week.is that a long enough break?
Report kerryman March 11, 2010 10:19 AM GMT
Are they qualified yet?

Thwe last thing you want to do is qualify them in 29.50 class. A lot easier to win a race in 30.70 class than meeting race dogs in a 29.50 class.
Report Taoiseach1991 March 11, 2010 11:45 AM GMT
yeah there qualified in 30.14 in late Feb,everything else is private trials.
Report kerryman March 11, 2010 1:36 PM GMT
At this stage they would want to be getting galloped twice a week and a 525 say

Monday Galloped, Wednesday trial, saturday galloped while being walked on the other days.

I wouldn't enter them for a race for another week and then hopefully you won't be called for 2 weeks after that which should give you 3 more trials and 6 or 7 gallops
Report Jockey Full Of Bourbon March 11, 2010 2:06 PM GMT
it's not that hard to find out,if you believe private trials are just that well good luck to you
Report Taoiseach1991 March 11, 2010 3:55 PM GMT
kerryman, they dont seem to be putting dam all in when they are galloped so its been alot of track work over 525 and 400.is that a mistake? well they have been entered for this about 4 to 5 weeks ago think i have one of them as fit as i can. am doing there last private tomorrow and if its a good enough time hopefully 30.0 - high29(very slow track) , am going to try get my few pound race night.
Report Taoiseach1991 March 11, 2010 4:11 PM GMT
scrap that, redid the maths looking to do about 29.20 or beter(hopefully)
Report Gone To Slips March 11, 2010 6:26 PM GMT
One other thing keep in mind if going for a touch first time up is have they ran under lights much? Can make a huge difference.
Report MALAY March 12, 2010 3:49 AM GMT
30.45 round mullingar is 29.95 shelbourne
Report kerryman March 12, 2010 8:39 AM GMT
You could try using a rag on the gallop to see will they follow that or leave a dog that loves galloping up in front of them by about 10 lenghts. I always qualify them first and then enter them in a race after about 2 to 3 weeks therefore getting the maximun length of time between qualifing and race night.

I'll take it they are going to be racing at Mullingar.
Report Taoiseach1991 March 12, 2010 12:36 PM GMT
Thought that gone to slips, tonight will be there 2nd time running under lights (private), your right malay usually mullingar is .50 slower that shelbourne but according to the hare driver, and a few other trainers the track was over a second slow that night if not more. Cheers for the advice kerryman will try that next time round. Think tonight will decide wether we ll put a few pound down next week.
Report Taoiseach1991 March 12, 2010 12:42 PM GMT
kerryman these pups are 19months, was just wondering will they keep improving?Dont get me wrong I know it all depends on the pup itself and how good (or bad), build. But in your opinion
Report Distant View March 12, 2010 12:47 PM GMT
I assume that they are running in Mullingar as otherwise, it is bordering on insane to school pups around that track, when a fantastic schooling track like Longford is not far away.

I will watch the progress of this thread closely as if they debut in 29.20 under the hands of a trainer that is using the betfair forum as a guide to training the dogs, I will have a bid in for them before they have been washed down afterwards.
Report Taoiseach1991 March 12, 2010 1:05 PM GMT
in fairness they had a good bit of work done before they went to mullingar round Dlk and were good solid pups at 18months. They qualified in 30.14 Shelbourne 525. So far its been good crack but there next bit of work will tell us were we stand. Listen if they come out tonight and do no sort of time i ll post it, no hassle.
Report kerryman March 12, 2010 1:20 PM GMT
If I owned them and they did 30.14 qualifing time id be expecting them to be doing aroun 29.00 to 29.20 in their novice race, but that depends on how many trials they had before the qualified.

Good luck with them anyway and let us know how they got on, given their age they should improve another bit with experience.
Report Taoiseach1991 March 12, 2010 1:23 PM GMT
cheers kerryman, they had two 400 trials in dlk qualified at the second attempt. Yeah I ll let you know how they go tonight either way they ll be racing next week. Cheers,
Report galway59 March 12, 2010 2:32 PM GMT
The taoiseach is taking some amount of**s out of the usual cybernutters that be on these threads.Paul Hennessy and Lister do be on the greyhound forum wondering what to do with their pups,ye should give them a hand.
Report Taoiseach1991 March 13, 2010 10:01 PM GMT
jesus not to impressed with his last trial clocked 29.50 in longford, track rated thirty fast, it ll be a watching brief in shelbourne am afraid
Report MALAY March 14, 2010 11:11 AM GMT
get a moderate 29.40 dog to run with them and see what you have if you dont beat him or lead the hare escape by a good margin, put them in the sales and move on
Report yourbestmate March 14, 2010 11:14 AM GMT
Irrespective of breeding you will get practically nothing for 19 month old pups that are unraced. Any buyer would know that they have trialled and disappointed if that is indeed the case and they would fetch very little.

29.50 - 29.70 will win races at bad tracks. Why would you start in Shelbourne with that type of dog? You could be lucky enough to get into a bad race at Harolds Cross on Monday or Tuesday night.
Report MALAY March 14, 2010 11:16 AM GMT
better to move on that keep persevering, unless you can question your ability to train
Report Taoiseach1991 March 14, 2010 3:01 PM GMT
listen thanks all for the advice, going to keep them around. Its keeping me sane training them and hopefully they ll win a few races in time.maybe the other nite was a hic-up but sure i ll post how they get on during the week.Cheers
