You are hardly giving away much by stating the breeding of the dogs. There is no need to mention times etc. If you go to Greyhoud Data like that you should quite rightly be told to shove off.

it struck me that if they owners are letting a fella train these pups who is posting on a betting exchange forum for advice on how to train them that they couldn't give a fcuk one way or t'other!!

400 Dlk 525 shelbourne, i rared them and because i have dam all work on at the min i took a hand at training them, its going well so far. Greyhound data doesnt give info like recovery time, expected time frames for likely improvement. thought there might be a few old hands on this could give me abit of advice. no big deal

A 4 dog trial in mullingar is a bit risky for young pups, newbridge a much safer option and try not to rush them keep them fresh and keen improvement will come if it is there. Best of luck.

Thwe last thing you want to do is qualify them in 29.50 class. A lot easier to win a race in 30.70 class than meeting race dogs in a 29.50 class.

At this stage they would want to be getting galloped twice a week and a 525 say
Monday Galloped, Wednesday trial, saturday galloped while being walked on the other days.
I wouldn't enter them for a race for another week and then hopefully you won't be called for 2 weeks after that which should give you 3 more trials and 6 or 7 gallops

kerryman, they dont seem to be putting dam all in when they are galloped so its been alot of track work over 525 and 400.is that a mistake? well they have been entered for this about 4 to 5 weeks ago think i have one of them as fit as i can. am doing there last private tomorrow and if its a good enough time hopefully 30.0 - high29(very slow track) , am going to try get my few pound race night.

You could try using a rag on the gallop to see will they follow that or leave a dog that loves galloping up in front of them by about 10 lenghts. I always qualify them first and then enter them in a race after about 2 to 3 weeks therefore getting the maximun length of time between qualifing and race night.
I'll take it they are going to be racing at Mullingar.

Thought that gone to slips, tonight will be there 2nd time running under lights (private), your right malay usually mullingar is .50 slower that shelbourne but according to the hare driver, and a few other trainers the track was over a second slow that night if not more. Cheers for the advice kerryman will try that next time round. Think tonight will decide wether we ll put a few pound down next week.

kerryman these pups are 19months, was just wondering will they keep improving?Dont get me wrong I know it all depends on the pup itself and how good (or bad), build. But in your opinion

I assume that they are running in Mullingar as otherwise, it is bordering on insane to school pups around that track, when a fantastic schooling track like Longford is not far away.
I will watch the progress of this thread closely as if they debut in 29.20 under the hands of a trainer that is using the betfair forum as a guide to training the dogs, I will have a bid in for them before they have been washed down afterwards.

in fairness they had a good bit of work done before they went to mullingar round Dlk and were good solid pups at 18months. They qualified in 30.14 Shelbourne 525. So far its been good crack but there next bit of work will tell us were we stand. Listen if they come out tonight and do no sort of time i ll post it, no hassle.

If I owned them and they did 30.14 qualifing time id be expecting them to be doing aroun 29.00 to 29.20 in their novice race, but that depends on how many trials they had before the qualified.
Good luck with them anyway and let us know how they got on, given their age they should improve another bit with experience.

get a moderate 29.40 dog to run with them and see what you have if you dont beat him or lead the hare escape by a good margin, put them in the sales and move on

Irrespective of breeding you will get practically nothing for 19 month old pups that are unraced. Any buyer would know that they have trialled and disappointed if that is indeed the case and they would fetch very little.
29.50 - 29.70 will win races at bad tracks. Why would you start in Shelbourne with that type of dog? You could be lucky enough to get into a bad race at Harolds Cross on Monday or Tuesday night.
