Yes i have him backed at 50's e/w

Yes i am completely biased in my view.

Yes the supreme is probably the safe choice

...but a year is a long time in racing and Dunguib will never have a better chance to win the Champion Hurdle.

Come on connections!!

One day at a time imvho.

There was one Golden Cygnet who won the same race and was brown bread a few months later.

Lets win the opener and take it from there.
Report ChildOfMine2 February 18, 2010 4:59 PM GMT
Theres no way he can run in the CH. Let him bolt up in the race he shud and then double up next year!
Report mitch leary February 18, 2010 5:01 PM GMT
time enough next year. more jumping experience needed.
Report Rowley Mile February 18, 2010 6:17 PM GMT
A horse hasn't won the supreme and won the champion hurdle in consecutive years in a long time me thinks.
Report xis a ruof February 18, 2010 6:18 PM GMT
Hem, explain why he will never have a better chance?
Report workrider February 18, 2010 6:20 PM GMT
EVEN DESERT ORCHIRD BRILLIANT HORSE THAT HE WAS COULDN'T WIN THE CH.
Report slickster February 18, 2010 6:30 PM GMT
must NOT run in champion.
anyone taking 8-11 in the supreme is asking for trouble.
his gold cup aside desert ORCHID detested cheltenham. a poor example from wonky.

well, it looks like a very open renewal and if dunguib is as good as he appears to be he must surely have a great chance? What price would he be if they declared him as an intended runner tomorrow?

I would say probably the fav anyway - no?
Report Eye Mall Inn February 18, 2010 10:55 PM GMT
Solwhit would still be favourite imv. They've no apparent intention of running him over fences at any stage so running him in the CH this year would be crazy. Still, I admire your impartial analysis hemingway.:)
Report thegalwayman February 18, 2010 10:55 PM GMT
He would be third fav behind Solwhit and Go Native and he would be fill the bag stuff if he was shorter.

It will all end in tears............
Report ChildOfMine2 February 19, 2010 9:16 AM GMT
Theres no chance connections will risk him in the CH after the way he jumped the last day. There's far too much to lose. The quicker they take him out of the CH, the better!
Report BJG February 19, 2010 11:53 AM GMT
It just isn't going to plan

DON'T worry, it's not Dunguib's plan I'm talking about, it's poor old Nicky Henderson's Champion Hurdle chances. What about Zaynar at Kelso? Beaten at 1-14 and, you know,he was labouring coming up to the second-last.

After last year's Cheltenham Festival the team must have been rubbing their hands thinking they had three real chances for this year's Champion Hurdle in the 2009 winner Punjabi, third-placed Binocular and Triumph Hurdle star Zaynar.

Now, sadly, Binocular is out of it and that run at Kelso from Zaynar can hardly fill them with confidence (although the ground was deplorable up there). Still, Punjabi is a very, very goodhorse and I'd be more than happy with just him, so all is not lost.

I was talking to Simon Claisse at Cheltenham the other morning about the ground and he said that the cold spells have left the track with very little growth and the grass is more brown than green.

With a month to recover, this should hopefully be okay come Festival time and, with the meeting being a bit later than last year, the ground might even be good.

Dunguib began riding out again on Monday and has been cantering the last few days. He is fresh and well, thank God, and will probably have a first school back next Thursday.

All he'll do is pop over three flights, although I've a feeling his jumping is not as big a concern as it looked at Leopardstown - he was maybe just too relaxed.

What is a concern is the preliminaries, as he has always been highly strung, so we've discussed putting ear plugs in - probably when he's saddled - and taking them out down at the start to help keep him calm with all the noise that'll be around. The atmosphere for the first race on the first day is very different to that of the last race on the second.

13-8 solwhit
2-1 go native
5-2 dunguib
Report galway59 February 19, 2010 6:41 PM GMT
Dunguib would most definitely be favourite if he ran in the champion hurdle, absolutely no doubt about it.Are ye trying to tell me that Solwhit or Go Native,if either were eligible would be odds on in this years Supreme, not a frigginng hope.
Go Native would be 2/1if he was eligible and he wouldnt win it either.
Report slickster February 19, 2010 6:48 PM GMT
who says dunguib will even win the supreme?

I presume youre looking for a catch with that one!
I`ll bite just in case. He won last years in a quicker time than the Champion and has since won a Fighting Fifth and a Xmas hurdle!!!!!!!!!!
You`re right he would be 2`s alright. 2`s on!

GS

last yr SN was not faster than last yrs CH,It pretty much d same time. GN ran the last 1/5 of the race faster but the ealy pace in the SN was moderate.

If Dunguib was running

Solwhit 3/1
Dunguib 5/2
Go Native either 3/1 or 7/1 pending good or soft ground.

Dunguib can be taking on casue of his sloppy jumping.

Think Fenton cant turn back now, he firmly stated supreme, that it, too many punters on him at SN prices now it be disgrace if he did.
Report thegalwayman February 19, 2010 7:46 PM GMT
Early pace was moderate? I seem to recall Golan Way taking off like a rocket. It was a poper fast pace the whole way round.
Report Biodiesel February 19, 2010 7:56 PM GMT
not compared to the early pace of the CH.

Go Native had a age advantage over most of his rivals last yr, he was 6 then. I rate him my biggest danger to my big Solwhit bet. He gives me near nightmares.
If the ground comes ups good Iam backing him tho an ditch lay my solwhit bet. If its on the softish side think GN speed will be blunted especially on the hill.

When u remove the Newcastle race, what has GN exactly beaten?? last yrs SN form is pretty weak

Somersby? he mighten have the gears to win Arkle, last yrs SN was weak. GN stood out tho.

Forget Newcastle race it was nearly 50secs slow.

In Kempton he beat starluck in a photo finish. He moved between CTrib last yrs 3M an Binocular with ease, Wow!
Report Eye Mall Inn February 19, 2010 8:19 PM GMT
Go Native is over-rated though. He beat Starluck by a shnot around a flat track.
Report Giant Strides February 19, 2010 8:22 PM GMT
Yeah Sommersby. Not short of gears I believe. There are clearly question marks about Go Native but I`ll be very surprised if I cant get out in running so I`ll stick with that.

Very lazy analysis emi.

I wouldn't like to see Dunguib in the CH btw.
Report Doyler1987 February 19, 2010 8:58 PM GMT
what has GN exactly beaten??

If were picking who Go Native has beaten, can we pick on who Solwhit has beaten too?

Donnas Palm - 50/1 for the CH, considered to be Meades B team or C team.
Sublimity - A fair stick, but a bridle merchant and you could call him a dog on soft ground. Tactics in the Irish Champion were laughable, personally I think they shouldnt even bother running him on heavy ground, but they do. Go Native beat him handy when the race was run to suit Sublimity on his ground, no excuses that day. He had excuses the days Solwhit beat him in the ground.
Celestial Halo - Bombed out, lets be honest, not a great horse anyway.
Muirhead - Everyone knows about him.
Who else? An injured/Unfit Hurricane Fly maybe? He wont be there in March.

If youre going to pick on Go Natives form, please state a real "top class" horse that Solwhit has beaten this year..

If you want a real "top class" horse that Go Native has beaten this year, I'll say hes beaten Solwhit, by 6L, on the bridle, easily. ;\
Report Biodiesel February 19, 2010 10:11 PM GMT
Forget Newcastle race it was nearly 50secs slow.

His beaten a ballymore winner an 2 CH winners. The ground in Leop was decent, hardly no sods lifted. official an actual going often conflict with eactother

GN true form in a truly run race this yr is beating binocular by 2l an starluck by nostril. This is my point!

I wouldnt even consider his piece of form with VLV, I put that formline in the same category as Newcastle race, meaningless
