The Irish version of the RP started during Galway 2002 ( I remember because it galled me that Rock Of Gibraltars Sussex was sacrificied for a front page of `oul chasers!).
It has taken them the guts of 8 years to give a detailed analysis of all runners. I shan`t be handing out plaudits because of the price of the publication and the fact the`re long overdue.

They are also doing an Irish Signposts section in the hard copy.
Report shaggykev February 4, 2010 12:32 PM GMT
maybe its because they have lost 20 percent of their sales in one year

will be great reading with all the big 30 runner maiden hurldes and low grade handicaps

a charles byrnes spotlight would prob go something like this:

"out the back latest run, never threatened at all, plenty to find with others, watch the market"

Thanks for that tgm. Was actually referring to the site being down Wed nite.
Report thegalwayman February 5, 2010 10:59 PM GMT
I see. Bit of an odd one to take it down for work the first night of Irish spotlights.

anyone get the lovely email from the EDITOR of the racing post on Friday that read..

IT'S win-win for you all this weekend. With racing firmly in the Irish spotlight at Punchestown on Sunday, it's also launch day of The Irish Racing Post. Step forward Willie Mullins, Irish champion trainer, who joins the Racing Post stable as our weekly Sunday columnist.

you couldn't make it up

Did not think Much of Willies article today

Also on page 9 they say turn to page 12 to read what trainer has laid a horse out for today, this trainer could hardly be more bullish. In the trainer comments on page 12 nothing remotely like that?????????

Not related but what do people think of Turform ... usually get it when I go to the races and use it as guide for jackpot etc. Have never used inline version. Thanks.

Some new names appearing against the Spotlights - not much of a vote of confidence in the home boys
Report observerirl February 13, 2010 7:12 AM GMT
There's a few on here whose ability to analyse races and pick winners would put most journalists to shame imo.
